Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWhat I didn't like is that booking.com advertised this property as one that includes breakfast with the room stay as many properties in Ptown do. I only discovered that breakfast was in fact not included only on my first night after I inquired with the restaurant staff about the breakfast hours. When I raised this issue with the blonde haired general manager, he proceeded to bruskly tell me that the hotel never serves breakfast and has never served breakfast in the 4 years he has worked there in spite of the full kitchen and restaurant guests have to walk past to reach their rooms; that booking.com posts whatever they like in property descriptions despite Pilgrim House repeatedly asking them to remove descriptors; and, that I should take it up with booking.com since I'm their guest and not Pilgrim House's guest. In fairness to Pilgrim House, when I reviewed the booking.com confirmation it read that there was no meal option with the room, so I'm not sure why the disconnect from on-screen property description and property filters. He also aggressively offered a refund and for me to leave...since it would be so simple to find another hotel on the Sunday night at the start of Carnival week. Overall, booking.com clearly messed up and/or misrepresented the property and he definitely handled the situation poorly and made it entirely uncomfortable.
The location, front desk check-in staff (I think his name was Eddie?), housekeeping, property cleanliness are all great. The building aesthetic and approach is also charming and that Cape Cod feel you want when in Ptown.

United StatesThe mangers attitude. The amenities that were promised were not included per our reservation. We were not pleased with the lack of professionalism by the management. He tried to blame everything on your company and refused to give a refund and I told him I would sue the Pilgrim House.
Nothing... We did not Stay there after we were told that they wanted $100.00 more for parking and 6 had requested free available parking via a text message. We were told that the Continental Breakfast was not included with our reservation which bbn was promised. After much back and forth with the Persnickety Manager, who was very rude and obnoxious he handed me a piece of paper with the amount that I paid saying he was refunding my money. My guest visiting from SanFrancisco refused to stay there and my M partner and I were also upset with the entire matter.

United StatesFront desk avoided answering questions about pricing saying parking was “included” when in the fine print it is explicitly not included. They know it’s a soft scam too and that’s why the front desk claimed it was all included when we checked in because I could have parked in front of the hotel in a private lot for $70 less. They also did not charge the booking.com price up front although they later adjusted the price (minus the $100 parking fee which I’d have to take to court and it would be their word against mine.) Booking.com also just files these away and does not take any action with their partners to prevent this kind of behavior. It’s an irrelevant amount of money for anyone staying here but it’s the principle of being up front with your customers. Lesson learned.
Location is great, rooms are great, hotel bar was great but they were avoidant and dishonest by omission about charges and I didn’t demand an up front itemized list of the total price breakdown. Be aware they charge $100 for parking when there is a lot across the street that charges $30

United StatesIt was very noisy in the room. Between the karaoke in the evenings and people in the room above us walking around (we could hear every step) for an hour in the early morning, it was difficult to get a good night sleep.
The location was perfect, the middle of where we wanted to be.

United StatesThere was no breakfast even though it was listed under amenities. There was a complimentary coffee machine in the room but there was no cups. We called the contact number around 8:00, we were told there was no breakfast and he wouldn't be in until 9:00 with cups. Going out for breakfast delayed our checkout time which was 10:00 (check out time is traditionally 11:00). While we were trying to get ready we got a call at 10:20 from Jeremy at front desk and was told there would be a $75.00 late checkout fee. (Jeremy could use a tutorial on how to handle dissatisfied customers) We should have been given a little leeway with check out time considering the breakfast misinformation.

SwedenApart from the room and the shows this hotel has nothing to offer and has lost its potential. There is no atmosphere, the lobby bar is not open, there is no breakfast and the staff is hardly attentive. For the price they charge you would expect a lot more at any hotel.

United StatesThe pillows were VERY big and fluffy - not my typical choice and they were all identical, so a little tricky but not a big issue, we worked out a comfy sleeping situation.
We had a lovely stay and the staff were so helpful and welcoming! The in is tucked away off of Commercial Street to very calm for sleeping and lively spaces to sit outside in patio or upstairs patio. My boyfriend arrived later than me so they were so helpful in w during he had key and parking for east access. We will return for sure! Thank you to all the staff!
