Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesA/C was noisy, and a window had gaps that pass drafts in windy weather. Very tight entrance to the parking garage. Breakfast area is tiny, with most tables having two seats only (it seems that more space would be available outdoors in summer). And as they have a restaurant at the grounds, there are no microwaves in rooms - might be critical for families with small kids.
The hotel has a great design. We really liked all that decor in the room, in corridors and lobby. The attached restaurant was a great one too, Staff was very welcoming and helpful, and the location right near the zoo was excellent for a family trip. Gym equipment was good too.

United StatesCould hear our neighbors talking well into the night and early the next morning - don't know if the walls are a bit thin or if those people were just really loud talkers. Either way, we still got a great night's sleep :) Bathroom had an overwhelming bleach smell when we arrived, but it got better as we let it air out. Overall, not much to complain about!
Staff was super friendly and welcoming at both check in and check out. The hotel's old fashioned British inn theme is carried throughout every aspect, and feels like you're truly there. My travel companion has been to British inns and said this hotel was spot on. Loved that every room is themed after a British author, and a plaque inside the room tells you about their history. It was fun to walk around and see all of the decor throughout the hotel. Even the smell was welcoming, loved the warm apple scented candle that made the entire lobby area smell delicious. We ate dinner at the tavern inside the hotel which was dark, cozy and immersive - and had great food too! Continental breakfast in the morning was delicious with lots of yummy pastries, coffee and tea, juices, eggs and sausage, etc. Beds were comfy and the room was spacious. Parking garage beneath the hotel was very convenient, as was having 2 restaurants and a themed Starbucks onsite.

United StatesThe breakfast was awful. It consisted of stale pastries, dried out sausage patties, and weak coffee on both days we were there. I had a better breakfast at The Best Western.
The room, lobby, Fox and Hound, and beautiful artwork on the walls were captivating. The place itself is beautiful and retains the original charm of the day. There are ORIGINAL big carved couches and armoires, oil painting portraits, etchings and lamps from the 1800's. The rom was quite comfortable, we had family visit us there.

United StatesThere is an issue with the legs at the foot of the beds. They cause bruises.
We love the literary-themed rooms and English manor house vibe. It's a lot of fun for kids to explore. Also, the restaurants are very good - worthy destinations even for those not staying in the hotel.

United StatesIt could use a really deep clean. Beyond what you should expect from the daily maid. Vents were black with dust. Just felt like it needs a real update and a good scrub (like most things British but this is not 1000 years old)
Love all the British decor and each room has a bio on a famous Brit. Great idea. Breakfast is large and yummy. Staff was very helpful. STayed here several years ago and loved it. The Starbucks is my favorite EVER.

United StatesThe bed was a bit hard, but the pillows were great- if only there had been a couple more of them. I've always wanted to stay there and I'm glad I finally did. I'm sure I'll stay again- but I'll be more careful walking around the end of the bed- those bed legs must have been designed by Tonya Harding's bodyguard.😁
I loved the decor, the ambiance. The tavern was perfect- great staff and drinks. Breakfast was really good- perfect scrambled eggs. The room was clean, as was our bathroom.
