old charm hotel in north beach / fisherman’s wharf, small rooms, shared bathrooms but unbeatable prices for SF!

It was a hassle free experience and I enjoyed my stay. Will definitely visit and stay at the San Remo again.

Great location, central, and with great coffee shops, restaurants, near attractions. I enjoyed the character of this well maintained, historic little boutique hotel. The place was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.

It is an old hotel so that is what we expected and what we got. No complaints!!!

The property is very quirky but in a good way. It is like stepping back in time and so understanding that it is not a brand new hotel ahead of time is important. Everything is old and creaky but that is a part of the charm. The staff were very helpful too. Fantastic location and easy to get around town from here.

It is pretty small, especially the bathroom. Although the hotel is clean, the carpets make the hotel feel a bit dirty.

Location was great. The atmosphere of the hotel is great. It feels a bit like a museum. The cleaning staff is doing a good job at the bathrooms.

Many rooms have only windows to internal hallway that are difficult to open (but a friendly receptionist fixed it for us).

Great location, in Italian quarter with nice café across the street and friendly neighborhood pub around the corner. History of the place is very much visible and refurbishments were done with great care. Free coffee, even outside official hours 7am-1pm if you ask the friendly receptionist to unlock the machine. Shared bathrooms are stylish and clean.

Location was stellar: very nice, friendly and safe neighbourhood. A lot of eating options around the place (Columbus Avenue, Little Italy, etc.). Also, on the other road side, there was a very friendly cafe, great to work in all day, with great bagles. And on the other side, there was a laundromat. It was in walking distance from a 7/11 and a Trader Joes. Cleanlieness was 7/10, not the cleanest (not 10/10), but definitely hygienic and very usable, the room as well as restrooms and bathrooms. Coming from Switzerland, which is used to very high cleaning standards, it was very acceptable. Also, it had a nice coffee machine with 20 options (hot choc, tea, etc.) that was free from 7 am to 1 pm, so that was awesome. Very cute and cozy hotel with a lot of history. Rooms were small, but we were coming for a work trip, and were out most of the day. Hotel doesn't have a working space, but the cafe on the other road side is perfect.

Great location. Easy to park. Complete amenities even shared bathroom. Good coffee is available daily from 7am to 1pm. Next to traders joe. There is no elevator in the facilities but they will help if you need.

Coffee ended at 1pm. Would like it to be available longer. There is an unusual smell at times , musty but hard to identify.

my room had no window (well, technically it had a window on the corridor but that had to be blinded unless I wanted everyone to see me in my room, and even then there would be no air recharge) so not only it smelled shut but there was no chance to let any fresh air in (for who knows how long)

well located, helpful staff and vintage building with the taste how life more than 100 years ago, the area was also nice and near pier 39. Given the prices in the city, this was very democratically priced.

The room was a wee bit small for 2 people with big bags, but that's an oversight on our part really.

Fantastic location, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The shared facilities were clean and most toiletries provided too. The coffee machine in the reception was a great bonus!

Older and sometimes smelly room but it was because of the older equipment. Really great value for money.

Nice and safe location, close to the downtown and Fisherman's Wharf. Coffee and water refill for free during the day. Added value: public mouthwash and other bathroom amenities.

If your looking for a safe room to get your head down and adventure out it's perfect, but if your looking for anything else included then this isn't the hotel for you, best on a budget and helpful staff 😎

Like stepping back in time staying here. Good option for a budget as it's close to everything and friendly staff. The facilities although shared were clean and a quiet environment. Good for back packers who want abit of space away from people instead of a hostel. The staff also will look after bags which helped when I checked out as my flight wasn't until the evening so it left me to enjoy the bay area.

The room smelled a bit after some desinfection but it was nothing that bad and one of the bathroom was not seem to be very clean and to get the hot water we waited maybe more than 5 minutes. But the other bathroom was quite good.

The location was pretty good near to pier and there were not much homeless people. Also the staff was pretty helpful, they let us leave our baggages for few hours in the hotel after we checked out.
