How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The Wife connection was too poor for anything. I had to leave to hotel to get anything done... Så that was a masive downside.

I appreciate all the hotel did do for me. I would strongly suggest painting the rooms and bathroom, the wifi was extremely weak in room 112.
Good location; right off the freeway and not far from the airport or ocean. Good customer service. they were always there to help.

A breakfast is always a nice addition
For the price this place is perfect! I have stayed twice now and I will say the nonsmoking rooms are much better, cleaner and in the more quiet building. It is in walking distance to food, stores, and bars. Really you can't beat this location for the price!

AC was defective. It was hot in the room despite setting the AC at high.
Location. Friendly staff this time. In the past, front desk clerks were snubby and rude. Good value for the money. Clean. The property manager, Cris, is making good improvements.

Initially rude onsite employee almost harassed me to leave during the time of my transferring money from savings to checking. Did not accept tap pay and I had to go get cash at a nearby ATM to pay for room. I don’t know, I was talking to a guest who was checking out that day and saw how the on-site employee thought I was with that party and he just harassed us all. I’m just not use to not seeing first class guest services to a potential guest alongside a guest who’s ready to conclude their stay. It truly felt that they just did not care. I’m not into writing bad reviews and I normally wouldn’t do this unless the experience truly warranted the review in which case this experience did. I doubt I would stay there again even if this was the last hotel in Costa Mesa. Watch out for the bigger long dark hair guy-

I found rat excrement inside the bed and under the pillow. It is by far the most appalling thing I have ever seen at a hotel.

The front desk people hate there job the girl was rude and didn't want to get our family of 3 who were staying 4 nights more then 2 towels we had to find the house keeping lady the 3rd day to get more towels also the floors ..... omg have never been moped EVER I couldn't let anyone walk without shoes to even go to the br without our feet being black and when we asked the housekeeper for the towels we were going to ask for a mop but she didn't have one
The location is just 10 minutes to the beach and everything else you need like food and shopping are all close by

The Wu-Fi is completely unreliable. if you need the Wi-Fi don’t stay here. The Wi-Fi shows it is connected but most of the time does not work.

There were some seedy-looking occupants but never in any threatening manner. I'm not the king of hygiene but whenever I stay at any motel or hotel I end up draping the chairs I sit on with the large bath towels like at Sand Piper too, not a bad thing just one of my not-at-home rituals.
The staff, value & location was excellent. It's not the prettiest room but was adequate for the price. One of the best features of the room I stayed in was just how nice the bathroom was; it had a very nicely-tiled walk in shower (for an NBA athlete or super high shower head) and a kind of bathroom that one would find at a much higher end hotel!

People loitering in the parking lot.
For one night and the price it was do able. I wouldn't stay there again.
