We went down to the coffee bar around 7:30 am and not a soul around much less coffee. Wish they'd have a simple continental breakfast. And the front door was unlocked.

    The historic aspect.

A little too warm in temperature.

They obviously think there is a lot of noise because they give you earplugs but in fact it was very quiet and the main issue was too much light from outside through thin curtains. The room was nowhere near the 250 sq ft they suggest even if you include the bathroom. The lighting was poor. They charge a resort fee to cover things like ?wifi and ?parking (much of which is on street and a drunk driver smashed up 4 cars parked outside while we were there). It also covers the pool at the Adrift Hotel which it says is covered but this does not mean enclosed - when we went it was full - it's very small - there were no pool towels and it's exposed to the air which was cold. This fee is iniquitous.

Very friendly welcome. The room was nicely decorated with a comfortable bed. Table and chairs, but that was all there was room for. Nice to have the parlour to sit in and games to borrow, enjoyed the pub food and live music. Good toiletries. Good wifi.

We were first assigned to room 5 which was so small I couldn’t figure out where we could put our suitcases. The lady at the front desk was wonderful and so accommodating. I just wish breakfast was still served, it wasn’t easy getting into the restaurants due I’m sure to Rod Run weekend.

Room 15 was excellent! Charming, quaint and a nice sized. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the terrace.

This is a lovely, well renovated historic property with fun details like a pool and shuffleboard table in the parlor and a delightful garden with yard games. The pub bistro was delicious as well. We fully appreciated being able to use the pool and sauna at the sister hotel Adrift, as well as the complementary bikes for the discovery trail along the beach. The rooms were tastefully renovated with comfortable beds and linens, but as it’s a historic property, guests should be aware that the noises from the street and from room neighbors above and to the side are far more noticeable than in a more recent building (but the hotel is certainly aware as housekeeping left pairs of ear plugs on the bedside tables).

The room was upstairs and there was no elevator, but we knew that ahead of time.

The bartender at night could be friendlier, more attentive and kinder to her support staff.

DeeDee at Check-in is fabulous! She made sure that we had a wonderful experience and had access to all of the amenities. The room was lovely and comfortable. The food and beverages were reasonably good.

I loved the character of the old hotel. The floors and stairs were uneven, the wood had history the stained glass windows held such charm. The garden was lovely. Pub food was excellent.

Don't check in before 4:00. We showed up at 3:45 and they made it clear that they could not help us until 4:00. The stairs are narrow and steep. The rooms are small. It is a really cool building though and overall very comfortable.

The Shelburne is a historic building but the rooms have been upgraded nicely. The bar is beautiful and the staff is friendly and passionate.

Since the nearby convenient restaurant for breakfast is only Thursday to Saturday we would have been very happy with a breakfast buffet, some granola, fresh fruit, maybe a toaster, some bread or bagels and asst of jam, honey and cream cheese. Too much to ask?

The clawfoot tub was awkward to use. They were replacing shingles on the roof and it was very loud in our room. We could also hear the person next door all through the night, snoring!

We enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel. The bar and garden were quiet. The bed was very comfortable.
