There was a bad smell when we arrived. Something that was cooked or spilled. We had to get a candle to help remove the smell. There was no card left for us to adjust the room temp or to enter the pool area.

Location, pool and it was quite.

Great Location, weak management and business practices

Too much talk about what sounds like a battle between Big Sky and VACASA, as a customer I should not hear anything about whatever is going on between the two. Yet everyday I heard something from one of the employees. Check your room for cleanliness and report right away or VACASA will do nothing about it. (One of the Unwritten rules, that's one of them.)

    Location to the slopes, nice!

Great location...the management of the unit leaves something to be desired

It isn't clear from the booking listing about how this space works. There is a hotel (Huntley Lodge) and then hotel condominiums (Shoshone). This booking went through Booking.com and then through a management company - Vacasa. So, the information about "checking in" was unclear. We went to the front desk and they didn't have any idea who we were or what we were talking about. When we mentioned Vacasa, they indicated that we were sort of on our own. We got to our room and the information on the listing is pretty outdated. For example, it refers to a code to get the key from the lockbox...and the lockbox is there, but the code wouldn't work. Instead, the door has an electronic keypad that we used the code for to gain entry. A small detail, but annoying. Vacasa support was accessible through a separate app, but they were for the most part unhelpful (and then offered to help us with something else?). Another nit. We checked ahead to see if the unit had a hairdryer and were told no, so we packed on...only to discover there was one in the unit. It just wasn't clear what value Vacasa offered. We routinely ran into issues with the bellman (who also provides rides into town), the concierge, and front desk people that we weren't really guests of the hotel or even of the condos...so they couldn't help us. We felt like the red-headed stepchild quite often. Thankfully, after awhile, we stopped telling people where we were staying and/or the staff was nice and just helped us out. Two important things to note: 1). The check-out time in the room is 10am. I repeatedly asked for a later checkout (our travel plans had been impacted by the weather. No luck. 2). The town is about 6 miles (15 minutes) away down a windy road. If the weather turns bad, you could be stuck for hours. It happened to us and was a bummer.

The location is great if you are a skier. You are very close to the lifts and other aspects of the ski resort. There are several places to eat up there, but many of them close down once the skiing shuts down for the evening. We didn't use the exercise room or pool, but they seemed fine. The little coffee bar in the building is nice as well. The room we rented was a good fit for our group of 3 (my wife and 17-year old son). Nothing fancy, but enough space and a decent kitchen area that helped us do breakfast and hold onto leftovers.
