How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

the room was just ok. the shower did not drain and the bathroom door would not shut. the ice maker on refrigerator wasn’t working and then they had to turn water off completely because there was a leak behind the water line.
the location was close to most everything, but the construction made it hard to get around

We got there at 1 and asked if there was early check in available. They said no but they would call if our room became available. TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE. At 3:10 we arrived back for our 3:00 check in time and they told us it would be at least another hour before our room was ready. We had to be somewhere at 4:30, so this was a major problem. The fact that they did not have our room ready on time is completely unacceptable. I have never been told to come back in an hour after our check in time and had there been any other hotels in the area available we would have canceled our stay and gone to a different hotel. They acted like it wasn't their problem and didnt offer any discount for our troubles. Once we got to our room there was a very strong odor. We had to leave 2 windows open to air it out. The lobby bathroom was also very dirty. Toilet paper all over the floor and the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned that day.
The front desk staff and cleaning crew were very friendly. It was very convenient to the Orion Amphitheater.

I had to change rooms bc the first room had Ants. The bedside tables appeared to have never been cleaned.

Had ROACHES! INTERNET did not work! Ask for extra covers, had to go get them ourselves. Hated it!

There was nothing I did not like.
The room was spacious. The kitchen was well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. In addition, it was very quiet. I never heard anyone in the hallway or above us. The dark out curtains were handled well (past the window) so truly kept out the light. The staff was friendly.

There was nothing I didn't like.
We arrived at almost 9 p.m., tired and hurting. The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. She offered to help me in any way she could, and told me to come to her anytime at night if I had problems with the room, or other guests. That not only surprised me, but impressed me with her professionalism. The suite and bathroom were very clean, with no bugs, no stains, and no lingering odors. The bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on. The kitchenette was fully stocked with all the necessary items to prepare and consume meals. There were 2 TVs, so my daughter could watch whatever she wanted, and I could watch anything I wanted without disturbing each other. And there was never a time when hot water was unavailable! The hotel is pet friendly and having my daughter's dogs was not a problem at all. Since I knew this was an extended stay hotel, I expected noises from other guests, but there were none! It was almost as if I had the entire hotel to myself. The doors had some mechanism which would not allow them to slam shut, so there was no slamming of doors all night and day. At checkout, I was thanked repeatedly by the desk clerk for choosing this hotel, and invited to come back again when in the area. I would definitely stay here again! I have already recommended this hotel to several friends who will be visiting the area in the future. It is close to the Space Center, the university, and the hospital district. So, I can certainly recommend Sonesta Suites in Huntsville to anyone wanting to visit the Huntsville area. It exceeded my expectations in every way!
