to get to the bedroom for two, you have to go through a dorm (sleeping people at night/early morning) the whole vibe was not very welcoming (neither staff nor the other guests)

It'd be much better if there're more parking spots on the property. The parking was shown to me was not available sometime since the DOT put their heavy equipment and vehicles there for road resurface work.

I booked the private deluxe double room with a balcony and a shared bathroom. The room is very nice, but you have to enter through one of the dorm rooms. It wasn't an issue in my case because it was empty, but it means that you might disturb someone/be disturbed by late arrivals. The door code for the private double room is also the same as for the dorm room, so it's not a great place to leave your valuables. However, there are lockers in the main area.

One of the cleanest hostels I have ever stayed at. Nice amenities and convenient location in downtown Hilo. Friendly staff that accommodated my late arrival and check in around 10pm.

I loved the staff, the room, the comfortable bed, the relaxed atmosphere, the cleanliness, and making friends during my stay. It was very comfortable, and also close to many things in Hilo (I stayed for 3 days and did a lot of walking around town). I felt very safe here. I look forward to staying again when I return to Hilo! I highly recommend staying at this hostel while you are in Hilo. Dutch, the person working there, made my experience truly feel like home...he went above and beyond and helps make people feel like family in Hawaii. Also, it is close to the airport. I took a cab from the airport and it cost me around $13. Thanks so much!

There is parking, but it's very limited: 2-3 spaces in a small lot behind the hotel. Also, I didn't mind it, but to get to my private room I had to go through a public room. No big deal. though.

This is a great no-frills option for an inexpensive stay in Hilo. Everything is clean. There's fridge space, an area to cook, and a nice public reading area. As with all hostels, it's pretty social, and a good opportunity to meet cool people.

The room they put me in smells humidity. There is no windows that you can actually open to get some fresh air, there is no curtains to block the light. There is no plug for each person to charge phone or external battery at night, you have to leave your phone there around. The sheets are clean but bed is not. The kitchen is not clean. The commodities are old and you can really feel it. Also the room is too expensive for the place. The receptionist is never at the office so I could not ask some questions about the island.. I wait but she never came. Really weird stuff happening here.

I am very disappointed about this hostel. The location is ok but the rest is not!

In my opinion. Firstly the hostel is not so close to the bus terminal and the centre of Hilo in general. Also an absolutely unreasonably inflated price of the night in this accommodation. Secondly, I booked this accommodation a month before and asked for the bottom bunk, the staff said that they have a rule of first taking what is available. And so it happened, I arrived and was forced to sleep on a bunk under the ceiling (no ac, personal light, etc.), which I consider absolutely unacceptable for that kind of money. As a result, the staff were not entirely cooperative. Well in conclusion, I insist on thinking twice about this kind of accommodation for that kind of money.

The hostel has a great location. Downton Hilo is walkable. The facilities were decent. The staff was very friendly.
