Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesRoom was on third floor — no elevator. But I booked 3 weeks out and did not know about that until I got there. Probably would have booked if I had known anyway.
I just had free coffee and bagel. Did not pay for full course. Room was fine. — all I needed.

United StatesThe was no maid service , that is a big no no for me. Slept on the same bedsheets the 4 days that we were there. No linen service, I had to ask for clean washcloths.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.

United StatesThe House is very old and the rooms are small but they have all the amenities.
Cleveland house is in the old historic district with top notch restaurants within walking distance. The service was fantastic. We had a hard time finding a parking spot so the manager, Rick met us in the street and parked the car for us. He gave us his personal cell phone number to call if we had any issues. He gave us great dining suggestions. A cooked to order breakfast is included.

United StatesIt was very costly… over $400 per night.
It was a block or two from where the action is (Bannister’s & Bowen’s wharfs)…we never used our car during our 5-day stay. The Inn is an old historic home, lovely. The staff was excellent. Very friendly and attentive.

United StatesThe bed, matress, sheets, comforter, towels need to replaced with new ones. The room needs curtains since the blinds were not enough to darken the room. The window ac was making a lot of noise. When we turned it off, the room got warm. Our room was not clean enough. There was dust and hair in various places in the room.
The hotel is near Washington square and within walking distance to everything which was great since there is a parking problem in Newport. It was convenient that the inn has parking spaces in the back and the staff at Cleveland Inn is very helpful and always in the Property in case there is a problem.

United StatesAt first I was disappointed that we were being moved to another location but it all worked out well for us as that location was better for walking to everything! We had a wonderful time! The only thing I was not happy with was that the bathroom for our room was in the hallway, not in the bedroom, but we made the best of it.. and all was good.
Because we were moved to another location we did not purchase the breakfast, However, we were told to check out Bells marina within walking distance of our stay and we enjoyed breakfast there very much. Over all, we had a great time! We were in good walking distance to the shops and restaurants and the transportation center which was convenient for us to use and take a trip to the Doris Duke mansion.

United StatesThe room itself was okay. Dead lightbulbs need replacing would make it brighter. A sink with a counter in the bathroom instead of the pedestal sink would be nice when traveling with travel size bottles/containers giving space to set something down.
We liked the location of this property and the ability to be able to park our car on site.

United StatesThe parking situation is horrible. There’s not enough of it and unless everyone parks perfectly, there isn’t enough room for all the guests. That said, Ophelia ( Hope I’m spelling that correctly) was fantastic in finding spaces either on-site or across the street at another property they own. Because of Covid, there is no room cleaning done during your stay. You can pick up clean bath towels, but by day#3 we asked for all clean bath linens as there’s not enough room to hang towels/wash clothes to dry and it was hot and humid outside so daily bathing -sometimes twice was needed. They were delivered promptly. The upside of that is you don’t have to worry about who has been in your room. We didn’t eat breakfast there, as we aren’t big breakfast eaters. Getting ice for an evening cocktail was sort of a help yourself situation with getting ice out of trays in the small fridge in their breakfast galley. No one said that was ok so you kind of felt like you were trespassing, but there often wasn’t anyone around to ask. None of these issues were deal breakers when you consider what every business has been through in the last year.
The best part of this property is the location. You can walk to everything on Thames St and the harbor. The staff are wonderful and accommodating. The bed linens were soft and comfy. The street is filled with lovely old houses. We felt perfectly safe walking everywhere any time of day or night.
