Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SeychellesEntering codes from the front door, to the elevator, to the room was a bit exhausting. Maybe they can leverage more on tech in that regard e..g tap the phone to the locks instead..
The room was gorgeous and comfortable. It's really well designed. The balcony facing the garden was just perfect for my morning coffee. Really brought out the essence of being in San Francisco. Perfectly located in Castro to really be in the heart of the LGBTQIA+ community

United StatesNothing bad but just one suggestion for a slightly easier experience with checkout. When the QR code is scanned by the person checking out, it should already be linked by you to the confirmation number. Having to go find that in my email to proceed was an unnecessary extra step, and a little stressful because a Lyft was waiting for me.
Great location. Checkin and checkout were smooth. Hotel bar was awesome

BrazilA few attention points, but only as attention points - as I would definitely stay there again: 1/ The room is not big. The space is limited - I was by myself and got the smaller room so it was not a problem, but is a limited space to hang clothes, store luggage. 2/ The mini-fridge is not that big too and not very strong - but keeping it with only a few thing you’ll be ok 3/ The bathroom is a little dark, the lights are not very strong 4/ I think it’s informed in a few places but just to highlight that the clean service is not on the package - available upon request (w/ extra fees). Anyway, the trash is removed everyday. 5/ There’s no front desk “in person” - all the check-in/out and communication is online/via phone. They usually answers fast.
I had a lovely time at the Hotel Castro. The location is AMAZING (at the heart of Castro) - literally walking distance for the main spots in Castro and in front of a supermarket Besides that a few good points: _ Black-out curtains are very effective _ Air conditioning very potent _ The balcony is great to hang out and see the movement on streets _ The building and accommodation is very new, modern and very well equipped. _ The room was very clean _ The rooftop has an awesome view

United StatesThe rooms are very tiny. I honestly can't imagine being there with another person even though the bed was large. The sink is in the room not bathroom etc. It reminds me of rooms in Tokyo. That's really the only downside.
I had to visit family at UCSF hospital and this is one of the closest, most affordable options. Most Uber rides were just $10 except for some surge one day. Very modern rooms with TVs that stream but no cable etc. The bed was very comfortable. My room on third floor was quiet I did not hear the lobby bar. There is a tiny balcony where I had coffee in the morning overlooking a peaceful area of neighbors' backyards and patios. Great location with plenty of restaurants etc. Even a nice market across the street to grab food for the room.

AustraliaWe were on the second floor, directly above a bar which closed around 2am. We could hear the music thumping through the floor. While we appreciated we were in the Castro, the messaging from the hotel gave the impression that they respected quiet times. We requested to be moved, and we were able to be moved for our last night, which was appreciated.
Great location in the Castro. Small but nicely designed rooms. Bathroom facilities good. The hotel staff (not on site) were responsive when we engaged with them.

United StatesI didn't love how there wasn't a lobby. I needed to store my luggage the next day, and they were unable to help with this. I ended up using a service called "Bounce" to store the luggage which was really helpful. This is the only thing I would change otherwise great.
Very clean hotel. There's no lobby, so check in is all digital. This was very easy and convenient. My room was very quiet. The beds were super comfy.

ChinaIt's a new hotel and thus you can smell the new furniture which was a little bit pungent.
Castro is a very safe place. It's near twin peaks. My friend and I climbed to the top in one moring. There are a couple of groceries nearby. And the check-in and check-out processes were smooth and convenient.

United StatesThe plaster where the bathroom plumbing connects to the wall needs repairing. There is literally w hole at the pipe that if you are at the right height allows peoe on both sides of the wall to see into each other's bathroom. It is at the exact height as my groin and the open cabinets meant I was exposed until I found it. And covered it temporarily with a towel.
Wonderful boutique hotel with amazing views and wonderful private balconies. Bedding was comfortable and all appointments were stylish and tech savy

United States4pm feels a little late of a check in and there’s no late check outs so it just feels like not much time to access the room for the price. no staff on-site but check in was still easy. It was also very noisy starting around 8am

United KingdomI was traveling alone, so the room was an adequate size, but it would have felt quite cramped with two people staying!
Lots of great bars, restaurants and shops in the area - the instructions to get into the hotel were also very clear. The room was very clean and the amenities (high end toiletries, coffee, water) were all fully stocked. There was also a balcony looking out onto the street.
