Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe property doesn't have a kitchen due to City regulations, but they do their best offering hot breakfast options each morning, like a breakfast sandwich, fritata or french toast + all the typical breakfast bar food & drink options.
We love the amazing history of The Collector and how each room is unique. It's a perfect mix of a funky B&B and upscale hotel. The location is an easy walking distance to everything downtown. We met a couple who was on their 7th stay at The Collector, which says a lot! We stayed in room S207 with a king bed and a shared balcony overlooking the pool (which is heated to 86º). Our room had a loveseat, bistro table/chairs, mini-fridge, microwave and kitchen sink. The grounds are beautiful and very Insta-worthy. The weather in mid-November was exceptional. We missed the annual Nights of Lights (when the entire city lights up for the holidays), but will be back to experience it! When booking, keep in mind this is a legit historical property with original windows and walls! You may hear your neighbors or a carriage on the street, and it's all part of the charm. We slept wonderfully and the staff did an amazing job, who all seem to take great pride in the property. Definitely take the free property tour offered a couple times each week!

United StatesBreakfast should be reevaluated. The pastries didn’t look super fresh. More variety of the breakfast selection and a higher attention to quality would be appreciated. Something like offering bacon, quiches, waffles, and toast with local honeys or jams would be an easy upgrade and noticeable difference.
Top-notch, unique oasis of peace and quiet in St. Augustine’s historic district. Rooms are a fun blend of luxury and quirkiness. Staff, especially Kate in The Well bar and Jamie at Reception, are very personable. So much character and worth the cost. The bed was very comfortable.

United StatesBecause it’s historic and very old, some of the fit and finish of functional things tended to be a bit wore out…ie, bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way and had to hip check it or muscle it up a bit to get it to close..not a huge deal for me but if I was older and weaker it could present a problem if I wanted the door shut while in the bathroom. Honestly, that’s the only thing I can think of..terribly minor…and as such makes this place virtually perfect in all ways.
Unique, spread out, historic

United StatesNo on site parking was kind of a bummer. The toilet was also running and needed attention. The coffee was weaker than circus Lemonade. Those were the only negatives.
The place was immaculately cleaned. The staff was nice as can be. The property had a ton of charm.

United StatesRoom was small.
Room was nice but a little small. Breakfast each day was very good and the location was great; close to everything and easy to get around. Staff was excellent, anything I asked for they were more than happy to accommodate us. We let them know the night before that we were going to check out at 4:00 a.m. The next morning one of the staff members made sure there was coffee for us to take on our trip home. The grounds were also beautiful. I would definitely recommend the collector to all my friends.

United StatesBreakfast is really substandard, (think holiday inn at best), with plastic cutlery and insufficient sitting space. Ground while pretty need a bit better upkeep.
Great location close enough to all the attractions but yet quiet and private, the old cottages are very pretty and well decorated with comfy beds and excellent bathrooms. And amenities. This could be an absolutely fantastic hotel with some simple fixes.

United StatesOur shower drain was mostly clogged, and we didn’t really like taking a shower in ankle deep water. The front desk personnel offered to send up a plumber to fix it, but our safe didn’t work and we were ready to go out so declined their offer. They said it was probably the battery. Otherwise the suite was very charming., There is a lot to take care of on the property so I can see why a couple things are missed. Overall it was a good experience.
We like the location, close to restaurants and shops, and our room was spacious and comfortable, and the bed was terrific!

United StatesOh my. We wanted to love this property and selected it for a three night getaway to St. Augustine. Although the staff is amazingly responsive and tried their hardest, this is an antique property which comes with many challenges. Our 'petite queen' room suffered from a lack of hot water in the shower (fixed by the third night--required a replacement valve), a very noisy running toilet (fixed by the second night--required a replacement fixture), very finicky AC/Heat in the bathroom and bedroom (the temperamental nature of the two remotes was never fully resolved but we managed), a broken overhead light/fan (on back order), a faint smell of mold (there is a dehumidifier in the room to compensate) and a lack of a bedside table and lamp on one side of the bed. The management was responsive to our issues and did offer to make things right for us which we appreciated. I suspect there are other nicer, brighter, more comfortable rooms on this property. If you decide to stay here spend the extra money on one of those--avoid the 'petite queen' at all costs!
The staff at this property are fabulous, helpful, competent and hardworking. The grounds are beautiful. Although it was too chilly outdoors to use the pool it was in good condition and beautifully appointed. The bar is cute and the two outdoor firepits comfortable and welcoming when the air is chilly. Breakfast was good with nice variety though limited indoor seating. The location is close enough to the main streets to walk but far enough away for some peace and quiet.

United StatesCleanliness can be improved- the lamps and ceiling fan were dusty, and the bathroom floor was significantly dirty. Also, the bathroom could be more efficient if it had hooks by the shower for the towels and shelves in the shower to hold personal hygiene items.
Location was excellent! Breakfast was great! The tour Ms. Michelle gave was very interesting and informative- really added to the experience at The Collector! The young men providing the valet service were very friendly and helpful!
