Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing.
Great location, room was small but comfortable with good storage. Nice to have a window to the street which actually opened. Shower room good. Staff all very friendly, helpful and professional. I liked that reception was locked overnight and covered 24hrs.

BrazilThe only downside was that the rooftop bar wasn’t operating during our stay, but that wasn’t a big problem since we could still use de space and take whatever we would like to drink
Everything was perfect, the staff was really helpful and caring about all the details from the check in. The room was quite small but more than enough space for a couple. It was also great having a breakfast option on the property. Location was also great, just a few meters from a metro station and 10 minute walk from chelsea market.

United KingdomNothing really! The rooms are small but to be expected for New York. The roof terrace bar was closed due to the timing of our visit so not their fault, and we could still go up there to check out the view which we did for sunrise (would recommend!)
The location was amazing, you could see the Empire State Building from our window! The area is great and feels pretty safe, and the subway is 1 min walk away. The rooms are small but comfortable and nice, view was amazing. The staff were lovely, welcoming and so helpful.

RomaniaThe room was extremely small for the price value paid. I was on the second floor and I believe right above the bar next door so I could hear people laugh loudly late at night (luckily I had my white noise machine with me). There's no breakfast included even in the high price I paid, but they did offer 1 bottle of water, 1 coffee, and 1 pastry in the morning with the token they gave me at check-in. When I booked, the facility fee was not disclosed in the payment so I ended up paying much more than I thought it would be. Better communication about that would be very helpful.
Really beautiful hotel, the room and especially the bathroom had a luxurious feel to them. Amazing toiletries. Very comfortable bed and warm blanket.

Switzerland- The size of the room. I chose the Studio Queen and I'm glad I did because a smaller room would not have been comfortable for two. Although the room was well-appointed, it was smaller than I expected but definitely good enough for a short stay. - A bottle of water, pastry, and hot drink for two would have been appreciated in the morning :)"
- friendly and professional staff - Fast check-in - hotel and room cleanliness (daily housekeeping) - secure entry and always someone present at the reception. - a roof top - bottle of water, pastery and hot drink included every morning. - DS & Durga soap smelling so good!! - hotel location - checkout at 12PM (very rare)

United KingdomThe rooms are tiny! I know the expected for NYC but certainly the smallest room I’ve stayed in whilst being in the city. Fine for one person for a few days but for a couple it would be a squeeze. The roof terrace was also closed even though the weather was beautiful

United StatesThe AC in our room didn't really work. It said it was 68º the whole time but sometimes it was hot and muggy, sometimes it was like an ice cube. This made it a bit hot to sleep as there isn't really any other form of ventilation. We messed with the controls a lot to get it to work but it just didn't seem to respond to anything even though we had it set to 67º as cold as it would go. Also early check in is $100 regardless of whether or not there's a room available anyway, not a huge fan of the upcharge when others provide the same for free.
It was very clean, the hotel was in an incredible location and all things considered we really enjoyed the spot. There were lots of cafes and stores nearby along with easy access to the subway.

GreeceThe room is incredibly small, which would be manageable if the bed was differently placed. I could barely pass between bed and bathroom and we didn't have space for both our luggage.

SwitzerlandHidden fees of $28 + tax per day as something they call "resort fee". This is not a resort but a hotel with pretty standard room. When asked for explanation they said that this covers drip coffee at the reception (you get a button to exchange for a coffee and one pastry piece). This doesn't cover espresso type of coffee. I didn't use gym but AFAIK no other hotel in the area calls gym a resort. The fee was disclosed in a fine print which I overlooked when booking.
Location on a quiet street.

SwitzerlandThe rooms are not particularly large and it would be nice to have a shelf to store the suitcase. I didn't like the fact that it's not transparent that the price you pay for the accommodation is not the end price and they charge you additional fees - especially if on the booking confirmation it is written "includes taxes and charges". That has to be stated more cleary from booking.com.
Very clean, rooms are cleaned daily. The accommodation has everything you need and is very cozy. I liked the charming entrance of the hotel. Top location - the metro station is a few minutes' walk away. Flatiron and Meatpacking can be easily reached on foot. They offer coffee and pastries in the mornings. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
