We liked everything about it, the connection to nature, accommodation, happy hour, good proximity to Middleton place and of course the horses

So why haven't I given it a 10. Well...we sent them 5 emails prior to arrival and only one was answered (the 4th one) and that was to ask us questions that were answered in the first email. Also although the towels were changed in our room the bed wasn't made. A shame because the inn probably deserves an 11 or 12.

This is a fabulous place to stay. The opportunity to walk around the magnificent grounds of Middleton Place after the tourists had left was an unexpected treat; as was having to step round alligators on the paths (don't worry mostly they're only 3 to 4 foot long). The inn is an interesting design and the rooms were comfortable and spacious. Particularly liked the inn offering a free nightcap option and cheese and biscuits during happy hour. Also Lucas made us a mean Hot Chocolate!. The restaurant has a good menu and is recommended. Don't let the fact that it is a 30 minute drive from Charleston stop you from booking; it's a lot cheaper than a similar grade city centre hotel - and they don't have alligators on the lawn.

Shower drain was slow to drain. This is the only issue we had and it was minor.

Beautiful grounds! Loved the property. Room was amazing. Not fancy, but lovely.

Not one thing

I love everything about Middleton, the scenery, the little trails, the animals, the history of it and the cute cozy rooms. Staff was exceptional, Lucas the bartender was extremely personable, and Phil(also goes by BC) is sweet as apple pie.

I had information that the restaurant was open- welcome center, their listing. We wanted not to drive anywhere as we were pulling a small camper. When I booked I found out it was closed. No eating place within walking distance. A furnace? behind a door by the exit door of our room was quite loud and ran constantly

The bed was a little hard and the pillows went flat when you laid on them.

Noise travels through the walls, this was our second stay and fortunately other guests have not been loud at night.

Love the tranquility of the location, walking through the grounds and looking out onto the Ashely River. Room and bathroom are modern and clean.

Serene, nature, gorgeous, well equipped. Felt like living with hints of the far away last but with modern day amenities. We will be back! Marvelous display of Gods beauty.

I was contacted after we had checked out and informed that the booking agent did not charge us taxes. So I had to pay $40 to Middleton Hotel while we were on the road headed home. There should have been some sort of communication between the Hotel and the booking agent about what the taxes were and who between the two of them was going to charge me the taxes. And I should have known the total amount due including taxes before I arrived. I would like for someone to reach out to me to explain this at 704-430-2090. Note, this is not a complaint, it's just a suggestion that I would like to have more clarification on. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back soon. Thank You. Requested in advance gluten-free breakfast options. Receptionist confirmed request was received. At first day breakfast kitchen staff said there were no gluten-free alternatives. Hence, we had to forego breakfast even though it was included in the price. A large mouse was in our room and disturbed our sleep both nights of our stay. We reported this together with the absence of gluten free breakfast to the reception staff but no compensation was offered.

Beautiful location about a 30 minute drive into Charleston. Free access to adjacent Middleton Place plantation was a true bonus as was the complementary port wine nightcap.

No room service after 5 days, Had to take out our own trash and beg a broom off a begrudging maid so we could sweep our own floor. Breakfast would have been horrible even for a Motel 6. No local TV. The toilets barely worked and the fact that there was no plunger in the room made every flush an anxiety producing event. Had to ask the staff for toilet paper that was only provided HOURS later (God forbid it would have been a more urgent matter). The pillow smelled like someone died on it (horrible)!
