Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaA mess outside… scaffolding etc which one has to negotiate around and under to get to the entrance…, then absolutely no option/facility at all to order or enjoy a coffee, a drink or a snack during the day, we had 6 days of rain… our entire stay, and we needed indoor comfort. There is only a tiny rest area/lounge to sit in or 4 seats in the lobby. We understand their adjoining restaurant was being revamped so had to go to the next door hotel, the Algonquin, to enjoy a tea/coffee and a light bite.
Excellent location….tween 5th and 6th avenues, on a quiet street, a few minutes walk to Times Square and Broadway theatres A lovely well fitted room, a Premier King, good size and a great spacious bathroom with bathtub incl a shower. Great breakfast, grab and go with very good options, a real bonus in NY where similar is very pricey. Great bonus too free bottled water offered daily and s fresh fruit to take at reception.

CanadaMy second night there was a smell of fresh paint or turpentine in my room. I assume it must have come in through a vent from another part of the building. It would have been appreciated to have been warned and for someone to have opened the window during the day. I did not care for the breakfast foods but they were generous and the coffee was good.
I loved that my room was quiet and felt private. I loved the bathroom and the bedroom did not feel cramped. I appreciated the closet and the special touches like 3 kinds of hangars for different functions. My room was spotless and cleaned every day. All towels were replaced and any other supplies that ran low were kept well stocked. I would stay here again.

United StatesThe fact that you have to get the dental kits. Also that there is a "grab and go" breakfast... Though the restaurant was under renovation so there is that. The mini bar menu is not very visible, so what you might be complimentary most likely isn't.
The hospitality definitely very welcoming!

NetherlandsIn our room there is some noise from the outside. The airconditioning can be very noisy but we hardly needed to use it.
A nice and comfortabel room. The breakfast is a grad and go and was sufficient for us. The location is really very central in New York. Many highlights just a few blocks away as were the subway stations. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomDisappointed we had no prior notification the the restaurant, The Triomphe , was closed due to refurbishment. Considerably more expensive than in 2016.
We stayed in the Iroquois in 2016 and returned in 2023. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was pretty good considering the restaurant was under refurbishment. Location was excellent for Broadway shows and many museums.

NetherlandsI am kinda nit-picking here but a few things I think could improve to make the experience even better: - vegan option for breakfast (or if there is already maybe it should be better advertised) - space/possibility to store personal items on the minibar (it was jam packed with hotel items)
Great and friendly staff, awesome location, and the room was excellent. It was awesome to grab a coffee at the hotel to drink at Bryant park.

United StatesThe water pressure in the shower is pretty bad - barely comes out of the shower head, but it does get hot which was good. Our room (600) was right next to the elevator which means you hear a lot of people talking and the elevator bell ringing every time the elevator arrives.
The location for a short "Broadway Show" trip was perfect. Walkability was a 10. Pricing was reasonable for NYC and the room was your typical small NYC Hotel Room, but was nicely updated and the bathroom was well fitted out.

AustraliaWhy was the breakfast so weird? For a 4 star hotel it was unacceptable. I am hoping that the breakfast room will increase in size, the food will be properly served. It looked to me as though the breakfast staff had no connection to the hotel, being more like occasional staff.
Location very good. Breakfast poor. Food in a paper bag does not suit 4 star hotels.
