Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

NetherlandsHotel had overbooked and could not offer me the king executive room I had booked for my first of 3 nights. The room I got insteas was a double queen with mold in the bathroom, a cracked bathtub and lights that didnt work. The kind executive I got after was fine, but the thermostat/aircon did not work and there was quite a heavy noice from construction, seemingly coming from the rooms above.
Staff was very kind and attentive, and the beds were comfortable. Location was great for the price, right near broadway!

New ZealandThe foyer area is lovely it's a shame the halls and rooms have not been upgraded. The rooms and halls are very tired. I think some investment in am upgrade would really spruce the hotel up. But then again perhaps we might not have been able to afford an upgraded hotel.
Excellent location and really nice helpful staff. The hotel is open 24 hours and has old world charm about it. We were really happy to have secured the room on the day at a great price. The beds were so comfortable and the room is spacious. It was good and we would definitely stay again. One of the bedside lights didnt work but it didn't bother us. The subway is 2 mins away and taxis plentiful. Right in the heart of Times Square and my daughter and I felt completely safe walking around around 1am at night.

The entrance to the Hotel is lovely but that doesn't translate to the rooms they are very outdated and décor is well worn but the hotel is in the process of a refurb. Room location Issues address with reception and discount given so customer service is very good

EcuadorWi-fi service never worked. The rugs in the hotel are pretty old and seem dirty. Elevators aren't all working, so they got pretty crowded and it was rough going to the lobby. It's ok, but it's a pretty old hotel.

United StatesAnything, these building needs maintenance. Basic things as shower, heat and tv control wasn’t working. The service is terrible, they never showed up when you need something. There is not a special line you can make for costumer service. The same line is for everything so it takes forever to speak to somebody.
The service was terrible. I had to walked multiple times (at least 2-3 per day) downstairs and make a long line to talk to someone, or get a new card, o ask for a service. They don’t pick up the front desk phone and there is always an insane line because is the same where people check out, check in, and ask for anything else. There was not hot water, my shower wasn’t working, and my room was freezing because the heat was broken. Facilities or room service never showed up even I reported multiple times. The key (cards) get damage every single day.

United StatesIn addition to the usual NYC traffic and siren noises, my window looked out over some construction, even at night. I couldn't sleep until it finally stopped. Not the hotel's fault but challenging.
The room was comfortable. I specifically asked for a room with a bathtub and I it was great to have after a late night.

United StatesI understand that the hotel is older and definitely needs some updating but the one thing that should have been updated already Is the electric. This is the first hotel I’ve stayed at in NYC that doesn’t have outlets/usb ports on the night stands. There was one plug near the bed but my chargers did not reach it. I actually had to go buy an extension cord so that I could charge my phone/watch and have them near me if I needed to use them while charging. This was my main negative thing. The other one is just better mattresses and pillows
