Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesResidency fee is a total rip-off. It's $45/day and there really are no amenities whatsoever. The only perk I was able to even try and use was the $10 off per day at the bar. Unfortunately, even that was disappointing. You have $10 *each* day. If you don't use it that day, you cannot use later. We managed to go to the bar two days. Which should have been $10 off each bar bill (they told us it would be taken off at time of checkout) but when we checked out, they did not take the amount off. And we didn't save the receipts so it was not worth arguing.
Staff around the hotel was wonderful! Very helpful and friendly. Front desk staff were a little less friendly, but fine. Location is fabulous. Bed was super comfortable.

United StatesNo negatives.
A handsome, quiet, elegant retreat only steps away from the Broadway theater district. Our room was beautifully furnished, and the staff was gracious and attentive throughout our stay. The Italian ownership has somehow infused into its service a relaxed yet sophisticated feel.

I travel often and very rarely give a perfect rating. All the service, the room, the location, facilities, the staff. Highly recommend. The room had slippers, a bathrobe, an umbrella, a coffee machine, bottles of water, an iron all the accessories like in a 5 star hotel.

United KingdomThe upgrade that wasn't an upgrade, until it was!
We had booked a studio room and I was then emailed the option to upgrade to a Junior Suite. We arrived from London at 21.00, very tired and were shown to the room. It was big and we thought the noise was the aircon. We realised later the noise was the hotel HVAC right outside our window and in the morning there was no light as we were in an inner facing area on the bottom floor. We weren't happy as this was supposed to be an upgrade! Reception were great and offered two new room choices, we took one around the corner and it was bright and airy. The aircon wasn't great at keeping the room cool, but we managed to get one of the windows open and had a lovely cool breeze. Much happier! Small breakfast area with great service and good food. All the staff were really friendly and attentive.

United StatesThat I couldn’t stay longer because my room was reserved by a new guest (this is outside the control of the property though)
The attention to detail and professionalism of all staff. Every person I encountered during the entire two week stay was in a positive mood and enjoyed what they were doing whether it be as simple as holding a door open or asking if I needed help with a cab or reminding me of the weather. It was all the things that actually made a noticeable difference in how my mood was being around positive energy makes everyone efficient in different aspects and different ways so going downstairs knowing I was going to be greeted by someone who was aware of who I was (as a guest of their property) the sense of belonging helped kick start each day in the best way possible and not sure what it is they are doing that makes everything seem so good but I suppose it is the fact they all enjoy their jobs which means they are treated equally and very well by the property which it in turn makes everyone in a good mindset and positive attitude making no time for negativity. They have a unique distinctive style that is normal and familiar one that has been lost in recent years with all other hotels so props for the Michelangelo for actually making a difference to the tune I would ever consider writing a positive review so long for any place unless they actually made an impact or did something significant enough that would deserve my attention and time to spend sharing my exceptional experience. Thank you

United StatesVery picky comment but plusher / softer towels would have be nice.
This hotel exceeded my expectations! I felt as though I was in Europe at a 5 star hotel. The property oozes old world charm and service. The location is central to all the hustle and bustle of midtown and yet, when one walks through the hotel doors, one enters a peaceful oasis. The staff is solicitous without being overbearing, and Edwin at the front door greets as if everyone is family. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the bed was among the most comfortable of any hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Special mention to the mini bar and selection of treats in the room.

United StatesWalls are very thin--could easily hear conversations from the rooms next door. No microwave.
Location very central to theater district, Central Park, Times Square, Carnegie Hall. Somehow didn't hear much outside noise. Staff were outstanding--extremely courteous, highly professional and helpful without being overbearing. Room and bathroom were huge (not just for NYC standards but bigger than most standard hotel rooms we've stayed in in other cities) and we just had a standard king room. Housekeeping available daily. Fridge, iron and ironing board, large in room safe, and bathrobes available for use in the room.
