The receptionist, Itza, was very rude to us when we checked in, she just droned the information like a robot. She didn't tell us about any of the restaurants or that the breakfast ends at 10am or the their brunch is very popular and would be booked up. Every time we tried to say hi she just scowled at us. The other staff members were great! The shower/tub area in the room could use some updating. It didn't look nice or inviting at all.

Beautiful architecture, interiors and gardens. The beds were very comfortable and the room amenities were great. There is a lot of history in the hotel. Great dining and shops. Lots to explore.

There is a lot of street noise late at night.

I’ve ever seen anything like it! I’ve stayed in historical hotels in the past, but this was so different. The architecture, the grounds with so many flowers. Just beautiful.

Self parking was close but it was an extra charge. If you’re going to have a resort fee, it should include parking to stay at your facility. $50-$60 a day to get there and park your vehicle and take a dip in the pool, you already have, seems a little excessive.

All of the staff and employees we came across were very pleasant.

A staff member at the front desk talked down to guests. Other front desk personnel were hospitable and friendly.

European vibe. Beautiful historic architecture, great abundance of colorful beautiful flowers all around, multiple charming courtyards with views and sitting areas and fountains to discover, patio furniture in most corridor terraces in front of your door, the bell towers sound off hourly and at the half hour. The room was spacious and well furnished, The bed was comfortable and had luxurious sheets. The restaurant in the main courtyard provides a charming backdrop and atmosphere with Italian and French melodies playing while serving delicious food for breakfast and dinner. The special champagne breakfast set up in he courtyard looked very inviting. Nice pool with bar & meal services and large swan floats. The Spa is conveniently inside the property. There are 3-4 restaurants on the property and a cute cup cake shop. The Italian restaurant was closed during the day we were there, but looked worth a try. The Mexican restaurant on the property looked busy. Excellent valet services. Within walking distance of historic churches and art galleries.

While checking out there was some confusion regarding parking validation so we were sent out to the Valet and back again. The second Guest Services Representative was able to handle the situation for us.

Our room was clean and spacious. We enjoyed the older windows that opened all the way and offered a wonderful view of the courtyard below and allowed us to listen to the street performers. The grounds are impressive and gorgeous and the location is perfect. We put the car in Valet and leave it there all weekend, as everything we needed was within walking distance.

we had dinner in the Presidents Lounge Mexican Cantina. There were photos of past presidents using the room for weddings etc, but the historic nature of the location was undermined by a low quality feel, cage fighting on the TV, 80s pop rock on the PA, and sticky tables. I get that there are a couple of fine dining options on the site for those wanting a more upscale experience but a better effort could be made in this area for casual diners.

old world quality feel, comfortable beds in a spacious room.

1.) The restaurants have terrible food and charge crazy prices. It's a shame because the ambiance is so nice. My wife made the comment that she probably wouldn't come back as a "spa relaxation" day strictly because of how bad the food is. Example, fish tacos at the Mexican restaurant are salmon. The shrimp in the salad we ordered were not good. The drinks were good however. 2.) I have a Sony A6600 camera. I really enjoy photography for personal use. I have a Samsung frame at my house that I like to put my hi res pictures on for a slideshow. I got chased down by security saying I couldn't take any pictures with my Sony and only cell phones are allowed. This is puzzling to me. In this day and age the quality of my phone is getting to be the same as my Samsung. Also, even if there were for profit photographers there, I would assume the hype generated would be worth more than whatever monetary reason they dont want people with fancy cameras there. Are they selling digital media themselves??? Only other reason might be concerns of peeping toms with high zoom lenses into hotel windows I guess......

The hotel itself is a destination. It is a great place to explore. It's unlike anything else I've explored in southern California. The rotunda is something out of a European building. To think at one point they were considering demolishing the building for development is beyond me. Highly recommend staying the night there! However, they REALLY have an opportunity to nail this place out of the park with my #1 dislike comment.....

The room carpet was disgusting. My white socks turned black within two hours of walking on the carpet. There is a foul odor of sewer that permeates the property every single day. They said it was old plumbing.

The bedding was divine! The whole hotel is a lovely historic old lady in a thriving downtown neighborhood.

Our room had a refrigerator but it didn't work. I checked the plug and everything. Still didn't work. I called the front desk and they promptly had a new refrigerator brought up. The new one didn't work either. The next day, all of the food we bought at Duane's was spoiled. Lots of money wasted.

Dinner at Duane's was absolutely AMAZING! The spa treatment was fantastic. The entire staff was absolutely amazing. The decor and ambiance of the hotel was incredible.

Seemed to be very few people at reception and when I arrived with my bags I was asked if I had a question? At breakfast there was ample seating available yet people were asked to wait around half sn hour. I can only think that maybe the kitchen capacity was an issue

I like the new restaurants that have been added in the years since my previous stays. The new cocktail bar was also good

Food offerings. Also, as a guest at the hotel, it would have been nice to have a small discount at the property-aligned restaurants.

Our stay was wonderful but the culinary offerings were a little disappointing. We mainly ate meals on the property due to convenience. Despite that, I look forward to returning, particularly for the Festival of Lights. THAT was spectacular. All of the staff were friendly and fantastic!

I was disappointed because on booking .com I paid for Glenwood Queen room on third floor . I had told my visiting guest how beautiful this hotel was ! Upon arrival were were on 1st floor , in room with a view of a mop bucket through Very dirty windows. Disappointing and second time I've been given wrong floor/room that i booked on Booking .com Not good and probably wont book w the app again,

I love the fact that the room almost felt like two rooms that connected. We both enjoyed the linens and products provided.

It’s the Iconic Mission Inn! Ive stayed on many occasions. This time unfortunately it wasn’t the level of service it’s known for. The Valet was extremely rude and it really soured the experience. Guest services didn’t do anything for the situation and that was even more shocking.
