Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt is expensive but price was similar to other good options in NYC.
The stay exceeded our expectations. The hotel is new, with a super comfortable bed, very quiet, despite being close to a high traffic road. The location is very good, close to the subway and several points of interest in Williamsburg. We really liked the service, very friendly staff. The room has a modern system to make excellent quality coffee. The rooftop has a good restaurant and views of Manhattan. Room seems small but is well distributed and accommodated two people comfortably, even with lots of suitcases. Whenever we needed any assistance, such as extra towels, we were attended to immediately.

United StatesI liked everything. The only suggestion I have is for the front desk clerks to be able to suggest places to eat, get coffee etc., and to be more familiar with the Williamsburg area in order to help with directions.
The Penny is in a nice area (across from a Catholic Church). The hotel is safe, very clean, and so stylish! Everything is. within walking distance.

United StatesNothing not to like, it was a lovely hotel and we would definitely stay again.
Really nice rooms, that were quite spacious for NYC. Lots of cute little extras, like the table and fold up chairs, coffee maker, toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. Staff were very friendly and super helpful. They whisked our luggage up to our room on a trolley whilst we completed the check in and told us where we could take our dogs for a walk.

United StatesThe house keeping staff didn’t always provide new towels when I requested my room was cleaned (there’s a sign you can put on your door indicating whether you want cleaning or not).
It was so quiet! It feels like a rarity when you’re staying in NY, and it was such a treat to come back to the hotel and truly relax. It also felt very new, modern, and fresh. The bathroom hardware was excellent.

SwitzerlandI like the rooftop very much with its amazing view, the restaurant, the interior design of the hotel, and the rooms. The hotel is very clean, I love the people and the service. I like the idea to have the kitchen in the room so that you can make your coffee in the morning.
I like very much the concept and the philosophy, NOT YOUR AVERAGE HOTEL ARTWORK Working in partnership with local non-profits LAND Gallery and Pure Vision Arts, Penny features artwork by New Yorkers with developmental disabilities and, well, the artists and their work rule. Full of nice art works.

IsraelThere is no gym at the hotel, and the only alternative is a $25 entrance fee at a nearby one. Ideally, breakfast could be a great bonus too
A hip new hotel, at an excellent location at hip Williamsburg. Very easy to get to Manhattan, while still enjoying the great atmosphere of Williamsburg. Room was relatively spacious in comparison to similar hotels in Manhattan. The room design was very cool.

AustraliaDaily cleaning seemed to come quite late in the afternoon when we were usually back which wasn't ideal, would have preferred if it was earlier. The shower door had a small gap at the bottom so every time the bathroom floor got extremely wet.
Overall highly recommend - amazing rooms, well designed, clean and comfortable. Beautiful artwork and furnishings. Location really close to amazing bars and restaurants and subway to get into Manhattan, in addition the free bikes were in great condition and made it easy to explore more of Brooklyn. Rooftop view from El Nico was incredible. Free coffee in the morning was excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly.

United StatesCouldn’t find anything I didn’t like :)
Hotel was really lovely and in a great location. The Mount Carmel Festival taking place on the street outside was a welcome spectacle and surprise. I had appetisers and a cocktail on the rooftop restaurant and it was amazing (food, service and views). The hotel is well priced considering New York rates. There was a special rate for the festival so this may explain. Overall, would highly recommend! I travelled solo and staff were helpful and kind.
