Beautiful location on the lake. Convenient for travelers like us to stop and rest. Warm heater, warm water. The well water there has a color and smell to it but have no fear, it is safe for showering and they gave us bottled water with the room to drink which was very thoughtful. And the northern lights show was amazing!

My navigation sent me to the wrong location, so I had a hard time finding the Lodge at night. The fridge turned out to be off (I only discovered this in the morning, so my fresh smoothie did not survive the night). The shower water smells and tastes of sulphur.

Very cozy and comfortable room. As it was a late check-in, Michelle left the key in my open room. Wonderful to wake up right by Tolsana Lake in the morning.

A wonderful small lakeside motel just enough off the highway to be very quiet

For a small motel/ this property exceeded expectations.

The tranquil location on the lake was nice. The restaurant/bar had the perfect ambience for an Alaska trip. The food was great as was the proprietor. Being able to park directly outside your room was very convenient for hauling luggage in.

There is a lot of sulphur in the water, which made it very difficult to take a shower. The odor was pretty significant. Just the nature of the well water in the area, I guess. The wifi wasn't great from the rooms themselves.

The staff was friendly. The bed was comfortable enough. Provided coffee in room and a refrigerator.

The room’s window screens were torn which allowed the mosquitoes into the room. As the weather was too warm, the room needed a cross-breeze for comfort which wasn’t possible. Comfortable bed but too hot to sleep…

The staff were excellent: friendly, helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed and homey. The room was very clean and attractive.

Nice place to stay on your way to Valdez

It is off the main highway (Glenn Highway) at the end of a gravel road that had rather steep ditches after the rains - so be careful if you have a car with low clearance. Rooms are not very large and somewhat rustic - but comfortable. The tap water has a sulfuric taste so you need to pass it through a filtered container before drinking. The lodge provides this in the room. It seemed rather expensive for the value - but in line with other accommodations in the area. That's Alaska.

We spent 2 nights there - stopped there from Fairbanks and used it as a base for travelling to Valdez for the day and then back - leaving the following morning to return to Anchorage and then Seward. The view of Tolsana Lake and the wildlife are beautiful; scenic twilight at midnight is other worldly; king size bed was comfortable; heat worked well. Stuffed animals in the restaurant/bar were great typical Alaskan company!

A little expensive for what it is.

Nothing fancy, but it was clean, warm, and comfortable. The water kinda smelled like sulfur but they provided a brita filter pitcher. Very quiet, and beautiful scenery, especially over the small lake on the property!

See Booking .com they should be embarrassed by their inaccuracies. To think they have the nerve to pass their inabilities on to me or the business by charging for their what they call service. Booking should be paying the business not to mention the consumer. What happened to fair and or honest business practices?

Breakfast rocked great food and coffee. Ample amount and great price. Booking com. had the hours all over the place. Very poorly done by booking. The site can’t be trusted. Shameful that a great lodge be short changed by inaccurate website. Booking . Com didn’t even get my name right. Glad I paid cash. Booking . Com can’t be trusted with my info.

The place is very dated. Water in shower and basin was smelling bad. Room was very hot and only had a mobile fan which was not enough. They did not serve BF even though it was advertised that they will serve BF. The nearest BF place was a 25 mins drive.

Everything, it's filthy. No facilities whatsoever, bathroom didn't even have a speck of shampoo and bodywash. Worst of all, the water was stinking, it had a foul smell. Some dirty filth also came with the water while taking shower.

Except for the river side location, everything about this property is awful 😖. 🤬🤬

NOTE: Alaska Water sometimes smells a bit and other-times it doesn’t it. You are not on the City water system here this is True Alaska. My water was fine, I hear when they get earth quakes it sometimes triggers the smell but that is how it is anywhere in this area - very few are actually on any kind of water system, most is from Wells

This is a 5-STAR Place for an Old Alaska Gem! Believe me I have been to a few and this is PERFECT…. Now for a few of you that need a “yuppie” place to stay, you will have to find that in the city. This is True Alaska in all its Glory, Beauty and History the Tolsona Lake Lodge. A once in a Lifetime Must See Destination for a overnight, a wonderful Meal or a sip at the Bar while enjoying the “million dollar” Lake View and Old Way Charm~ Let me share with you what a “TRUE GEM” I have found. The Room was very spacious, Clean, Organized and Well Kept and the bed was so comfy. The Lodge was Beautiful real old time Alaska Lodge kept up thru the years with lot’sa LOVE. Dinning: Was amazing “Momma Michell” has wonderful options, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner even Prime Rib yep that is what I had with all the trimmings which included salad and dessert and a very good price, you could tell it was cooked and made with love~ not some pre-made stuff you see so much now a days~ Breakfast I had the Omelet, hash browns and toast yes another yummy I had to get a to go box, very generous servings. I saw this guy eating a Burger, I swear it was the biggest Burger I have ever seen, it was called “The Monster Burger”, it is a Local Favorite I was told. Bar: Talk about a true old time bar…lot’sa history there back in the day they had seat belts on the chairs for some the regulars…LOL …I took a photo sitting at the bar looking out on the lake, and included is a photo of me Yippee they have pull-tabs and I WON BIG TIME as you can see~ Also included is “GUY” an original member from the “Ramblers” there was a few of us there so that night we got Live Entertainment!!
