How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I did book a king size bed and was put in a room with doubles. I didnt say anything we just made it work but that was a bit disappointing.
The location was perfect for our family as we only wanted to spend time at the beach. We also liked the room for both its cleanliness and comfort. The free toiletries were nicer than a lot of the places we stay as well.

The noise from neighbors, when they got there at 11 pm and those leaving before 7 am. I'm guessing there isn't enough sound proofing. The people were not obnoxious loud, they were just doing normal taking and coming in their door. The coffee kerig was difficult to run.
Very nice room. Everything was clean.

We loved everything, nothing to complain about.
Room was extremely clean and had everything we needed to make our stay great! The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is located near several restaurants, stores, and a short drive to the beach. Can't wait to go back!

The location is a tad noisy, but again I think it predates the business of the road.
It looks nice, I think it’s an older property but it’s well maintained.

The hole that was cut into the counter top was not flush to the sink edge thus giving about a 1/16" gap next to the sink. Hahaha!!!
Late check-in went perfect. Never contacted staff face to face but phone and text communications were great. I pulled up, my room.keys and receipt were waiting for me. Walked into a clean and "fun" room with all the amenities I could need for resting my head for 2 nights. Bed was comfy. Towels were soft and not worn out. New appliances. Huge TV.

Tubs in the king rooms, would of liked them bigger.
The clean rooms, they were very nice. The coffee maker made really hot and good coffee. Thumbs up for amenities.

I can’t really think of a thing I disliked about The Topsail Shores Inn. I did need my more-firm pillow from home - but that’s just me! Ha - I went next door and bought one. I didn’t ask the staff, but honestly? I should have checked w them! And there WAS a deodorizer that bothered me. But when I mentioned it, they EAGERLY discontinued it. The room/carpets were not old or in need of deodorizing anyway IMO… Everything was SO well cleaned and maintained. Their housekeeping staff WAS great.
Everything about this little Inn was great. We stayed 5 nights comfortably! All office and housekeeping staff were eager to help and accommodate. It was clean and very well maintained… inside and out. The grounds are peaceful and inviting and the location is situated for safe walking to food and/or convenience shopping. The area of town is clean and feels safe.

The hotel area is off a regional highway although set back from the road. Expect the usual noise as such. The hotel is not soundproof. Request a second floor room if you don't want to hear footsteps above.
Personal highlights: communicative and kind staff, excellent bed and pillows, the small green space for dogs, and the exterior.

Everything was great...just too short of a stay.
We loved the whole area and even though our stay was short it was very clean, accommodating, relaxing and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and efficient! I would definitely look to staying there again if the opportunity presents!

We were given a handicap room and there was no vanity or shelf by the sink for toiletries. There is some traffic noise if your room faces the highway. I would guess that the rooms behind the building are quieter.
Helpful staff, comfortable accommodations, thoughtful amenities, good location.
