How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The decor needs to be updated - badly, and while it was clean on the surface, it needs a good, thorough cleaning. There were no cups nor anything to make tea with in the mornings.
The staff was very friendly and helpful! They helped both myself and each other when slightly confused.

We booked a double room, but got a single. We were put in a room that hadn't been cleaned. The refrigerator wasn't working, and there was molding food in it. There were no towels. The trash was full. There was no TV service. The bed hadn't been changed. There was a funky smell.
The staff was very courteous and helpful.

There was no place to check in to the Budget motel. Ended up going to the Super 8 next door. They checked us in there, because they told us the room at the Budget would be second floor and there was no TV service in the room. The motel looked like it was under construction. The Super 8 room gave us ground flood and it was easy to access. The carpet was quite dirty. Some repairs were needed to the room.
At the Super8 room that we did rent for the night, the A/C, shower, and the refrigerator worked great. The bed was normal.

The hotel did not accept my confirmation because it was under renovation. They only accepted case and I paid more for the room than I booked online.

Everything. It was dirty. Air conditioner blew up when I turned in on! Keys did not work! No light in the parking lot

this is not even a property - it should be unlisted fast! no kidding. This would be okish in Bangladesh, not the USA. in the USA this should cost 20eu, or be free for the scouts.

The rude staff, the hundreds of bugs in the bathtub, the tv that didn't have cable, or the deposit that I had to pay.

when we arrived at the address at midnight, we found the sign unlit and it looked like it hadn't been taken care of, the entrance locked, papered doors, unpainted signs, looked like the lobby was disassembled. we drove around the building to find another lobby, but found no other entrance. i pulled up my bookings.com app and found a phone number to call. it was answered by the Super 8 clerk from the next door property. She told me they handle the check-in for Budget Inn. she wouldn't take a card for payment, only cash. our room's door wasn't quite fitted into the jam, the bathroom floor was permanently dirty, the tub had old, discolored adhesive sticking to the bottom and was stained. the furniture in the room was shoved together to make it look like a long unit. if we hadn't gotten there so late, and needed to get up at 5am, i would have tried to get a room at one of the other motels right at that exit. the cost of the room was cheaper than bookings.com price. i would strongly suggest you don't list this place on your site!!!!
we didn't like anything about this "motel" not a thing.

Customer service and the lot looks really trashy with construction stuff everywhere. Place is trashed
First off when I got to check in the receptionist didn't listen to me and thought I was checking in for super 8 and gave me attitude when I tried to tell her I was for budget. She told me to come back in an hour. So I did then she finally hears I'm here for the budget. Then they gave me someone else's room. Did get another room though.

This could not have been more disappointing. Everything was a disaster! Totally miss representation yourself Booking.com! Won’t go with y’all anymore!
The building was tore down. Construction was going on. Booking.com wasn’t supposed to be advertising for rooms. The whole weekend got canceled and was ruined. Thanks a lot Booking.com you all SUCK!

There were stickers all over the floor, bathroom sink was dirty and the mirror on the bathroom door was still dirty.
My room being on the inside of the building instead of the outside, having the restaurant open downstairs close to my room was very convenient.

Floor uneven, fridge didn't close. No shower curtain. No cable. No wifi. Dirty sheets. Door had large crack. Did not feel safe. Building very old and unkept. Grounds looked like the local dump

Woke up to no power, cold showers, no heat,, had to get all my stuff ready by my phone flash light. I understand it's not their fault to lose power but where is the back up generator? I could have stayed in a tent with more amenities. I would like a refund.
The staff was friendly when I checked in. No one to be seen at 5am check out with the power off
