Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

AustraliaNo Refrigerator or microwave as stated in facilities available. Had to ask for extra towels as only one in the bathroom for a couple. Had to hang a towel up over the window as the curtains didn’t quite give total privacy, as we also had to place personal items on the curtains to stop them from blowing open while the air con was operating.
Room was clean Location where we needed to be. Wifi was great. Comfortable bed, hot shower.

United StatesEverything needs to be greatly improved. No amenities at all. Was given a towel, no wash rag or bath mat. No soap or kleenex. No appliances. No hangers. TV had 1 channel. Heater didn't work at all, got down to 27 degrees. Bed bugs in 1 room.

United StatesI did not have breakfast, but the owner was very kind and friendly. Was a bit disappointed that for 70 dollars there isn't even a microwave provided and the room curtains are nearly see through so not really any privacy. But it was clean and quiet. It was a pleasant nights stay.

United StatesAnything . If it would not have been 1am and being so tired I could not drive any further I would have found another place regardless of the money left at. The description online is so far from what I arrived to find. The pictures sent of the room were not the room either. I was a woman traveling alone and the curtains were white and not big enough to cover the window so I slept in my clothes. The toilet paper was down to 1/4 only left and sitting on the back of the toilet because there was not holder. No trash can. The bed had a blanket but the room was so cold and the heating unit didn't work well. Water for shower was warm at best.
Originally the price until I arrived and questioned the safety of the location and it went downhill from there after I realized it was non-refundable.
