How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Location was great. Bascially on the Canals and short walk to beach, restaurants, shops, groceries. Perfect hideaway to spend a quiet week in Venice Beach.

nothing. perhaps the room is quite cosy.
very secure with private garage parking. Spacious bed and clean room with champagne and water in the fridge. the complex was very secure with PIN codes used for entry. the area is quiet, no noise heard during the night, occasional car noise on the road. located close enough to the busy area with bars and beach shops, but far enough that it’s quiet and secure. would stay again!

Not much noise insulation, could hear next door guests snoring. Wish there were common laundry facilities

We liked it all - only that there where no coffee filters.
Laurence send us detailed instructions. Worked perfectly. Close to the beach; Not so important for us but convenient. Neighbours where quiet, and South Venice Boulevard was actually not that busy.

This little place is close enough to my daughter’s home on the beach that I can walk back and forth. It is quirky and charming, and the rooms/apartments are spacious and well-furnished.

There was no real space for the cot, as the bedrooms have really massive beds in them. The place was not extremely clean, with dust tumbles everywhere. The kitchen really lacked, if you are staying here long term - no lids for pots, no teaspoons, no grater, makes cooking hardly possible.
We really appreciated the desks, which allowed us to be able to have a good working holiday. The aircon/heater worked great as well. Location is fantastic. The beds were quite comfy.

The sink to wash up dishes is the bathroom sink, which just feels strange! There was a clump of someone else’s hair in the shower when we arrived.
It was in a good location, nice and close to the beach. The owners were easy to communicate with. The bed was super comfy.

We have to clean plates and glasses in the toilet with hand soap because they didn’t offer the proper cleaning products

The only thing that happened to us was, while cooking, the smoke detectors went off (even though we didn't burn anything...it WAS bacon though.) I believe because the space isn't huge, the smoke detectors not only in the kitchen but in both bedrooms were in close proximity.
This was a great place for our stay. The location was perfect for us, only a 5 minute walk to the beach and all the action of Venice Beach! We stayed in the 444 location, 2nd floor. It was such a cute place, very bright and cheery and so clean! The hosts thought of everything-- kitchen was fully stocked with everything for cooking, plenty of towels and toiletries in the bathroom, the pillows on the beds were plentiful and a variety (beds were comfy too) and we had our own assigned parking spot which was a plus. We will definitely keep this place in mind when we come back. (The hosts told us they have plans to do some things to make it even better, but I don't know how they could, it was wonderful!)

We had issues with the door lock and would have to try several times to lock it before it worked. The kitchen could benefit some modernisation as the tap was very leaky. The garage is very tight (we had a mid size SUV) but could be improved if the cabinets at the back were removed.
Fantastic location between Venice Beach and Abbot Kinney. Private parking (although a little tricky). Good kitchen facilities if you need it. Clean.
