Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumVery expensive breakfast/lunch/dinner. Luckily there are plenty of good options nearby. Special room design with a rather open bathroom area. Ok for couples but not ideal if you’re staying with friends or teens. Pool staff was pushing to ‘reserve’ pool chairs via some app where it costs 130$ per person. Luckily the pool was quiet enough to enjoy it in the morning but I can’t believe they would ask hotel guests to get a day pass if you want to be sure to find a spot in the afternoon. Cleaning staff (at least the ones we met) doesn’t speak English.
Great location, surprisingly comfortable beds (despite being very soft), nice modern design. Most of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

NetherlandsThis hotel was advertised as being new in 2023 but it is not so. Many of the shared spaces appear to be remodelled in 2023 but our room was not. The bathroom area is starting to look outdated and the fabric on the beds and seating area are stained. The furniture also looks like it has suffered quite a bit of wear and tear. The cleanliness of the room was not fantastic.
The location is fantastic, nestled amongst nice cafes and restaurants and near Madison Square Park.

United StatesEverything was made to appear like a luxury hotel but if you look underneath, some basic things were subpar. The sheets were very scratchy. The towels were cheap. The service was erratic. We had an amazing breakfast server who remembered our order from one day to the next. On the other hand, when we checked in, they were rude.
The common areas were amazing!

We loved the room with the great view! The staff was awsome! Of course in Manhattan the rooms are small but it was def. okay and I love the Yoga Mat.

United KingdomThe hotel is being advertised on Booking as having the swimming pool - but we learnt on arrival that it's seasonal and was still shut (late April) - despite some sunny and warm weather. This was disappointing especially because you're charged a 'resort fee' - which is the fee for the facilities of the hotel. It's not extra, it's included in the total you agree on Booking, but it was a bit strange being charged that separately and the only facility that we could really use was the gym. Check in and check out experience, as well as service at breakfast hasn't always been smooth or even friendly - we often felt like we were not wanted or people were doing us a favour and made us feel very uneasy.
Beautiful rooms, spacious and nicely organised, location couldn't be better, view from the rooms was incredible (28th floor). We were given a very lovely corner room and a welcome present as it was our anniversary - this was such a lovely and beautiful touch!

SwitzerlandThe beds are okay but too small, we stayed for seven nights, and by the end of our stay, the small beds did not help to get a good rest. We missed a nice lobby or a place to hang out. The bar and the terrace are nice but you can't just hang out there without consuming anything. The quality of the cocktails depended on the barkeeper.
The Virgin Hotel is a very nice place to be. The location is great and the rooms are well equipped and clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful at any time. We enjoyed the view and the friendly atmosphere.

United KingdomAir conditioning has no quiet setting with less fan, so noisy for sleeping with.
Successfully brings the Virgin spirit to a hotel. Great design, attention to detail in the rooms and the service, friendly people, enjoyable common spaces, eclectic without that getting in the way of a relaxing, comfortable stay. A location that works well for both midtown and lower. A nice room to be in. Safely opening windows even at high levels. 'Sea view' room is slightly playfully labelled, as it was sure to be given the location, but you can indeed see the 'sea' around the Statue of Liberty.

United KingdomLocation felt a little sketchy - lots of cannabis shops nearby which made for some challenging conversations with the kids :-0
Great hotel in decent location in Nomad. Rooms are bigger than many in New York, and are stripped to the bare essentials - no excess furniture or gizmos taking up the space - while still being comfortable and stylish. The dressing area layout works very well and the lounge-bed is cosy. On the higher floors, views are superb; we were entranced by the views directly out to the Empire State Building and could see all the way to Times Square.

United KingdomOnly thing which was an issue was the noise, it is in a very central location so you can hear things like sirens during the night - so if you are a light sleeper not the best of things - and the fridge (while super pretty) makes lots of noise.
Everything! Hotel has an awesome feel, the staff are super friendly, it has an entrepreneurial/community feel to it, the decor is amazing, especially at Everdene bar, had up and close views of the Empire State building so you 100% feel that you are in NYC, beds were super comfy and loved the black-out blinds and lighter curtains as I need pitch-dark rooms to sleep so works perfect. The pasta dish was also exceptional! Bonus plus was that many residents were accompanied by their pets, so was super cool to see them strutting around.
