How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We requested sheets and a blanket for the pull out couch and one of the rooms never received them after calling twice. The elevator situation was pretty bad in the morning and some of my family had to walk down from the 20th floor.
The room was fine and clean. Having a coffee bar and bar was a plus as well. The location was fine.

Front desk operations is a 1 star experience. You have to be patient to figure out what line to get into (and whether there is a line and try not to get angry with people cutting in - they are also trying to figure it out) and wait long enough to get to a staff member.
The location is amazing - in the center of Manhattan, close to Grand Central station and most subway lines. The room was comfortable and clean.

The quality of the food. Particularly the breakfast items all tasted like inexpensive frozen packaged food. But the cappuccino was very good.
Great location, staff, cleanliness and comfort.

We had two rooms in a single reservation. Got one on 7th & other on 24th. why can't they plan these out esp given it's on one reservation? when i asked for it they behaved as if it was a strange request furthermore, it's not possible to use one key to access the other floor... BF quality was ordinary Coffee machine in the room didn't work. I paid $7 to get coffee from the restaurant below which was an overkill IMO

The breakfast deal they offer as part of the hotel stay is only for one person, so if you have two+ guests in your party, only one of you get the complimentary breakfast.

Unfortunately, the bathroom was not very clean.
The hotel is perfectly located. The room is comfortable and we had a beautiful view on the Empire State. The staff was also nice.

The size of the bathroom and that there was no fan in the washroom. The fridge could be a bit colder.
The bar staff and the drinks were good. The hotel staff in general were super friendly and helpful with accommodating an early check in.

Partner complained about the pillows not being firm enough. That's about it.

The pull-out sofa was, well, a pull-out sofa in quality. A second blanket and pillows would not have gone astray. We did get the second blanket when requested.
The gym was amazing!! Best hotel gym I have ever worked out in. And the staff were very friendly and accommodating - reception, bar, everywhere.

We traveled with a child and got a king bed and a pull out room. They did not provide any bedding or make the pull out bed up. After dinner, we stopped at the desk and asked for help. They said they would send someone up, but when they did it was pretty late. Would have been better if there was a stack of bedding in room. Also, a comforter. She was cold and not real cozy.
Location, staff, bar, rooms! We loved this hotel! The drink passes were a sweet perk at the end of a long day of sight seeing! The concierge was knowledgeable and sweet.
