Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe door to the room did not close properly and therefore could not be locked. The room was very small. No breakfast was served.

FranceWe had actually thought breakfast was included, but it was charged seperately. That isnt to say it wasnt good or that it was overpriced, just unexpectedly an extra.
We liked the overall olde-charm atmosphere of the entire place. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they have a classic pub-restaurant next door which when we were there had live music. Not the cheapest dinner, but again they have that atmosphere that made the experience enjoyable and worth it.

United StatesRoom is slightly dated and could do with a fresh coat of paint. Wish the pub was open more days as we were unaware of that when we booked and were looking forward to having dinner be so close.
Love the location, beautiful property with a lot to explore in the area. The room was clean, and felt I was getting a good value for the price. The size was perfect for our family of 4. The hotel breakfast was affordable (especially with under 13 being free) and yummy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

United StatesWe stayed in de family suites adjacent to the hotel. The rooms here can use some updating here and there. Kitchen is very minimal (fridge and microwave)
Very friendly and hard working staff. We stayed in summer time, but for winter time location is excellent next to the slopes. Also very good breakfast options and a nice restaurant on site (only opened Wed-Sun)

CanadaRooms, ours at least, was a bit smaller than expected though ok for a few nights. Noises can be heard quite easily from other rooms though we expected this a bit. Luckily most customers were very polite, friendly and quiet. Pool area could use a little bit of work.
Beautiful place to stay, extra friendly staff and an awesome fairly cheap breakfast. The view are very nice, horses sometimes grazing in the fields right next to the hotel's location. Access to some trails closed by and a pond with canoe/kayaks. Distance to town and attractions is very manageable and you get that feeling of "out in the country", so a plus.

United StatesVery friendly staff. They gave good advice about dealing with my having six guests coming to join me for dinner and the restaurant not accepting reservations. I was given good info about waiting times at the anticipated hour and when I should put my name in. … if worked.
The breakfast room was great, the food was good, the service was friendly and good. But, it was part of the package, Very and three was a charge although no mention of fee on the menu.

United StatesI have been there before more than 15 years ago. I understand that prices have gone up, but the services which I enjoyed before such as free breakfast has been largely degraded with lower quality and quantity. It is not the same kind of Bed and Breakfast Inn that I booked this time anymore.
I like the quiet surrounding where the inn is located and the small pond where we could go there to enjoy boating.

CanadaThe apartment we got said room for 5 (1 double bed and 3 singles). The 3rd singe bed was actually a pretty flimsy cot that, when extended, took up the entire room and can't really move. The bedsheets were not clean on that bed either. There was a couch so wasn't a huge problem, but I would advertise that cottage as 4 bed, 1 cot and 1 couch. Upon check-in, we were told kids under 12 have free breakfast, however the next day we were charged for our 9y old. Not a big deal, we got really good value out of the $12 breakfast, but should not have been advertised as free.
The location, was really nice, away from the main road, but close enough to everything. Fresh clean air with a wonderful river flowing sound. The breakfast was amazing. Well stocked and good locally sourced ingredients for the food. Coffee was really good!

United StatesVery little to be disappointed with! The room was small and we had to wait a long time for dinner seating on Friday night. The Shovel Handle Pub is obviously a popular place and we understood. We had a couple of drinks and enjoyed the entertainment while we patiently waited.
Right from our arrival, the host was extremely nice. The room was a bit small but it was nicely decorated with a comfortable queen bed. We had dinner in the Shovel Handle Pub, although we had to wait 90 minutes, we had a delicious meal and the entertainment was great. Breakfast the next morning was great too for a nominal fee and our waitress was amazing!! On our second day we traveled the area but came back to drinks and dinner again and once again it didn't disappoint. It was great and the entertainment was great too! Overall all of the staff was top notch and very freindly / welcoming! We loved our stay at Whitney's Inn!!

United StatesWe mis-timed dinner (took a nap) and had to get takeout, but that was our fault. Never figured out the baseboard heat, but the fireplace kept the place cozy. Discovered we don't like memory foam mattresses.
Breakfast was very nice. Super convenient to Black Mountain where we skiied. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and made our stay very pleasant. No problems checking in, even though we arrived very late. Staff went above and beyond with several issues, none of which were the fault of Whitney's Inn.
