How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The hotel was dirty and dated. There were pubic hairs on the nightstand and in the bathroom. If you looked closely at the surfaces in the room they didn't appear to have had much cleaning in a while.
The staff was nice and the location was convenient.

The front desk manager was the only person on duty the evening we checked in and she seemed totally stressed out. When people would call, she would put them on hold and never talk to them again. Hampton also did not have our reservation in their system from Booking.com. The front desk manager said, Hampton's system has been going in and out all week, so I had to call Booking.com and get the Hampton confirmation number because Hampton does not use the Booking.com confirmation numbers. On the morning we were to check out, my 86 year old father did not come down to breakfast when he was suppose to. We went to his room and he would not answering his door or texts messages from us. Worried, we got a key from the front desk and opened his door, but the night latch was flipped, so we could not get in. We yelled through the crack of the door and got no response. We were very worried he might be having a medical emergency, so we went to the front desk to get help. The young girl at the front desk went to talk to someone and came back and told us their maintenance man was there, but he has not clocked in yet and he can't help us until its time for him to clock in. I was like REALLY! He could be dying in the room and the person who can help is here, but we have to wait until its time for him to clock in. I was shocked! Luckily, the maintenance man came out and helped us get into the room. Your maintenance man was very concerned and extremely nice and helpful. Luckily, my father was in the shower and did not have his hearing aids in, so he did not hear us trying to reach him. In any case, it was a little shocking to be told by the front desk they could not get help until the maintenance man was clocked in. Wow, that's really showing how much Hampton Inn values life and people who are possibly having an emergency. I'll never stay at Hampton Inn again.
The hotel was clean and comfortable.

No issues.
Very convenient location. Wytheville is halfway on my trip from Atlanta to Pittsburgh, and I can always trust Hampton to be clean and comfortable.

Did not have our booking.com reservation. We were stuck without a room and the staff member did not apologize, act concerned or offer a solution. Double charged for the room and would not work with us for a refund.
Close to exit ramp. Safe location.

The rooms look very outdated. Room door would not shut completely unless you pushed on it to close. Front Desk staff also charged incorrect credit card for payment.

Food was left in the refrigerator. Queen size bed in 223 was very uncomfortable. Room was outdated. Completely different experience from the stay in room 213 the week before.

The only thing I noticed was that the bathtub was a little slippery when I got into it to take a shower.
The breakfast was great. There were plenty of items to choose from. I had the big waffle, and it was delicious!
