How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We had to leave for home!
The breakfast was very fresh, with a good range of Vietnamese foods, super omelettes and yummy bread. All the staff were delightful from the moment you entered the hotel to when your breakfast plates were collected. Rooms were nicely appointed and with great local art. A very happy stay.

Breakfast room was a bit short on table space at later times and some hot food had sat a little too long so would suggest getting there earlier. They did offer to cook fresh options also each morning which was a great alternative and very quickly delivered to table.
Apartment was very roomy; beds were super comfortable, air con amazing and great amount of space for our family of 5. Location was very central in old quarter and kids had a wonderful time being a close distance to markets, food & train street. We loved Hanoi and The Calista Hotel and will be coming back!

Very attentive staff, they helped us organising our trip to the Ha Long Bay and were even after we left still in contact with us, to ensure a great time. The rooms are nice, you have everything you need. The hints and recommendations were nice and very helpful for good food, souvenirs etc...

Stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment at Central Residences which is situated around 70m away from the main Calista hotel, both of which are in quiet side streets just off a couple of main roads in the old quarter lined with heaps of shopping and eating options. Apartment was spacious by Hanoi standards, clean and well appointed – great for families with younger children. Treated each morning with a nice (but small) buffet breakfast at the main hotel, that provided a decent selection of Asian and Western options. Highlight of the stay were the fantastic staff, especially Amanda who provided friendly, efficient and overall excellent service whilst assisting us with many enquiries and booking requests – such as a Ha Long Bay cruise. Thank you Amanda and her team.

Friendly staff, clean facilities and location central. Although located in the Old Quarter does not suffer from the noisy bar scene that many hotels do.

What makes me impressive is the service of staff in Calista which is more than 5 star service. The staff are always willing to help everything with smile on their face. :) The space of restaurant for breakfast is not big, but the meal is delicious. Various food and drink can be chosen, and some dishes can be ordered. I will choose to stay in Calista again if I have a chance to visit Hanoi again!

We weren’t real sure if it was an upgrade or not moving to the apartment and weren’t asked if we wanted the upgrade. All things considered though it was a good room for the price.
Note- We booked the Calista hotel but they put (upgraded?) us in the apartment suite not the actual Callista hotel room so our experience might be different (we never actually saw the hotel rooms). The apartment suite was great though! room was very spacious and clean. It offered a washing machine which was a nice add!

In room 402 the shower didn’t function all that well.
The staff were really friendly and super helpful. They spoke English well which made it easier to communicate. Great central location in the old quarter. Close to shops, food, park. Very clean and modern rooms.

The daily cleaning staff could have done a better job with emptying waste bins and cleaning the rooms. Other than this little thing it was a fabulous stay in every way!

Had to walk up a busy little lane to access the main street
The reception staff were wonderful, our beds were and pillows were soft and the room was quiet. The breakfast buffet selection was good for an Aussie family. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment for myself, husband and son and the washing machine and dryer in the unit was most helpful. Yummy cheese/pancake shop out the front. It was my birthday so they surprised me with a special little cake, very thoughtful.
