Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMini fridge temperatures in hotels in Vietnam are barely cooler than room temperature, we are aware of this so it is not a criticism of the hotel, but just be aware you won’t be able to cool your drinks.
The best part of La Cascada was the wonderful staff, especially Roxanne who we saw most often. They were all eager to offer help and advice to ensure we had the best possible visit to Hanoi. We used the hotel as a home base while we did side tours to Lan Ha bay and Tam Coc, so we had three separate stays. They arranged transport to and from Tam Coc via limousine van which helped to make our travel stress free. They stored our luggage for us while we went elsewhere and on our final stay upgraded us to a balcony room as they knew how much we loved the balcony room during our first stay. If you are a train enthusiast the balcony rooms are highly recommended as you can watch the trains leave and arrive at the station which is just a bit along from the hotel. No need to visit Train Street if you stay here, it is outside your window (just not at quite such close quarters). We filled in the feedback form after our second stay and I mentioned having more than one pillow each would be handy (easier when you are sitting using the bed like a couch), lo and behold when we checked into the room on our third stay there were four pillows waiting for us! The hotel location is great for wandering around the Old Quarter and is about a 15 minute stroll from Hoan Kiem lake. If we are lucky enough to return to Hanoi we will certainly stay at La Cascada again.

New ZealandWe stayed at this property twice and it was such good value for money. We were well looked after by the staff and had everything we needed. Later on going to another hotel at this price point this one definitely stands out against the rest!

We really enjoyed staying at La Cascada. The rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. We had a balcony that overlooked the train tracks. The staff were very friendly and informative. There was a young lady that gave us great service, she stored our luggage for us, gave us great tips on where to visit and ensured we were comfortable. Not to mention her English was great. Would recommend to anyone visiting Hanoi.

United KingdomNothing although some people might find the alley a bit creepy at night as all the shops shut snd it’s a bit deserted ( we never felt unsafe though as 2 women ( mother and daughter) and even my 21 year old daughter felt comfortable there alone). It was about a 20 min walk to the centre of the old quarter ( lake etc).
Kind staff, clean, confortable, interesting location down a little alley of shops ( you have to walk a short distance if you come by car). Good value for money. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the train track which was a nice place to sit and interesting. Trains v few and did not bother us.

New ZealandWifi could have been faster.
Staff were very welcoming and always keen to help. They even came out to street corner to greet us on arrival having booked a taxi with them before arrival. Glad we did as it made arrival in Hanoi a lot easier! The view over the train track was cute and didn’t really bother us with the little noise we did notice. The room was spacious and the beds reasonably comfy. The aircon was good. Wifi was a little slow. The alley where the hotel is located was busy during the day but empty at night. The location was really good. Everything was in easy walking distance.

SwitzerlandThe staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The view from the balcony facing the train track with the trains passing by made it very special (if you do not mind the occasional noise from the trains, otherwise it was very quiet, given the central location).

New ZealandThe hotel reception is situated down a market alleyway, which makes it a little more difficult to arrange taxis since cars can’t come down it. But the staff were very helpful, letting us know exactly where we could get picked up / dropped off.
The staff at La Cascada were fantastic. They recommended nearby restaurants for our stay and gave us lots of useful information about local attractions. They even gave us gifts when we left the hotel! The rooms were also very clean and comfortable.
