Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

South AfricaThe things I didn't like is something I, unfortunately, have to write about. This is probably not a bad thing, and could be taken from many perspectives, but the luggage storage is approximately 5 km +- away, give or take which road you take. The communication from the people in contact via WhatsApp is very delayed and they do not get back to you immediately, or not at all. I had an early flight from Durban to Cape Town, and for this I had to have an extra 5 km travel being up early. Check in time was 15:00pm to 23:30pm. I received a text on WhatsApp at 15:56pm what time I will check in. I collected my luggage from the storage place in Woodstock. At the foyer of 117 on Strand, a guy named Oliver was waiting for me (my arrival and greet with him was 16:25pm - also when I looked at my watch). He was sarcastic, felt entitled to my time and was arrogant. He apologised after I had to give him lesson on how to receive customers at the foyer - I was on holiday. The apartment I stayed in was dirty. Sticky stains on the floor, table, and white stains on the couch. There was hair on the floor, and shower - washing/and dish washing machine smell damp and it was damp, and also at the area where the rubbish bin was. There wasn't basics stuff - kitchen towel, broom, etc.. I sent a video on WhatsApp looking for an explanation why the apartment wasn't customer ready. The cleaner arrived eventually but in the afternoon (following day) but I was called that the cleaner was waiting downstairs but I wasn't in the area - I had an appointment. I moved my appointment to accommodate the cleaner but when I arrived, the cleaner wasn't there. The questions that the guy asked on the call made me wonder if I was a priority because he asked when I am leaving, not asking me about morning times - people just rock up.
The apartment was in a great location close to amenities - restaurants, pubs, bars, not too far from V&A Waterfront - There was a grocery store on the ground floor at my convenience. The wifi connection was optimum. I had a spectacular view from the 14th floor, looking over the ocean but from a far view, yet beautiful and a site of Signal Hill and Lion's Head - quite panoramic.

South Africai did not like the fact that i need to stand for more then a hour at the security desk and told me that there was no booking. i showed the proof on my emails but there was no booking for 117 strand street. i think that you guys are wrongfully advertise it and mislead clients. we end up in greenpoint at another guess house this is such poor service and was not happy at all. dont lie and mislead people online when they see your apartment i liked nothing it was a mess

South Africaplace was dirty literally everything from the dirty walls to the carpet and linen , kitchen cabinets cabinets and table had staines not wiped the stove was not working a old 2 hot plate balanced with a stone was out there as a substitute the toilet basin was full of hair looked like someone was shaving and clogged so the water was still couldn’t drain after using the basin the bedroom cabinets had no handles no homeward and utensils the tv language was set on French the host wouldn’t allow us to check in before 3 after we requested fir early check in then only arrived at 16h30 and hour and half later they when trying to call them to find out what was the delay they started ignoring our calls and texts it was a horrible experience overall considering the amount we paid

LesothoThere was always electricity cut in my room only and the agent kept on guessing what the issue could be, at some point she blamed me to say maybe i am using heater hence electricity is finished , only to find out that the room has issues. WIFI was very slow, faulty washing machine, no table cloth. It was very hard to get hold of the agent via calls and even WhatsApp.This was the worst stay i ever had

Apartment was beautiful, problem the apartment was not clean, too much dust, pots was very dirty,the was not proper sheets and linen on the bed,mattress protector was very dirty with a lot of dirty stains.Carpet was also dirty with lot stains,everything was mess,Not iron,also I never see apartment with no iron and proper juice, wine glasses. When I asked them them the iron they told me to hire it for R150.Unit 510 disappointed me shame. Wes part "I spend 4 days there without any assistant Shower was leaking, the whole apartment was full of water

United KingdomThe owners communication was abysmal, the sofa was very uncomfortable, upstairs needed another hoover and the bed sheets weren’t 100% clean. Also it was kinda strange that the toilet had privacy screen but the shower didn’t. Finally bear in mind that the toilet is right next to the bedroom, personally I didn’t use it that much as it wasn’t as well ventilated as it could have been.
