How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We loved our stay. Breakfast was really good and the staff friendly. The place is suitable for families and it is also close to the shopping center. Would love to come back again. ☺

Noise in the evenings from other people booked in as well. The guesthouse is quite a walking distance from shops and restaurants so quite challenging when you are hungry and thirsty especially when returning from an overseas vacation and dropped off by public transport.
The guesthouse is neat and tidy. My room was spacious, with a good bed and I had a good night's rest. The day's temperature was 29C outside and the room air conditioner was very welcoming. A flat screen TV had a sufficient number of channels which was a good relaxing treat too. The bathroom was neat and tidy and I had a good shower. The only concern was that there was a bit of noise in the evening from other people that were also booked in at the guesthouse. The other challenge is that the guesthouse is situated away from shops and restaurants so the walking distance to get to food is quite a challenge and certainly not advisable at night time especially when walking is concerned. The breakfast served in the morning was a real delight and well presented.

yes, I real like your place and very good welcome friendly well, your area much safe very quiet everything was in standard, the only thing was little turn us down your dstv channels was not good we watch SABC 1,2 and 3 only which I normal not watch even in my house. Otherwise, I rate your very good just fix dstv channels.

Location suited perfect for our needs as we needed to be close to industrial areas. Breakfast was superb and our host was fantastic. Safe and secure parking behind wall and electric fence.

Well the breakfast didn't have muesli and the juice did not taste nice. No back up when it's loadshedding.

Loadshedding disturbed my study time. I did not really like my breakfast because I was eating the same thing every single day so it got boring after two days. It looked like there was a challenge in accomodating a vegetarian but what is advertised online is that vegetarians and vegans are catered for. Shaka got me soy milk on the second day which is very much appreciated, however, more of vegetarian breakfast would have been excellent considering I stayed for six nights.
The welcome was very warm. I felt safe. Shaka is just made for this job. Excellent at customer care.

Swimming pool was very dirty, requested to be cleaned but it was not cleaned. Please add bar fridge in the rooms. We couldnt come back home early cause of the pool and nowhere to store my drinks

The pool was very dirty... When we saw the pool we thought we were going to swim
The host was very kind & friendly. We felt like home. The host even offered to Uber us around. One of us doesn't eat pork so the host offered chicken instead.... It was really a good place to stay
