How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The bedding had a stuffy ,old smell in both the rooms ,and the hair dryer was faulty .
Was my birthday weekend, spent with husband and parents .The place had enough cleaning stuff in kitchen and stuff for load shedding .very peaceful and private.

Car park bit too narrow,not fun with a big vehicle. Not major though.

We never managed to open the garage door to put the car in there. The extractor above the stove didn't extract at all, so that when we cooked meat with a little fat we set the fire alarm off with the smoke which was sent straight in the direction of said alarm. That needs seeing to. For our taste the kitchen equipment was sparse, but then South Africans probably don't cook for themselves when on holiday and we do!

Not much, I loved it.
It was self catering. Enjoyed the facilities and the homely feeling that the venue gives. Can go back there anytime, would recommend it highly to others.

The mobile aircon did not work. The jacuzzi at the facilities is also not in a working order.

There was no house keeping and our unit was not cleaned. Its not located close to the beach...you have to drive few minutes to get there.
It was unique with regards to structural design. Entrance to kitchen and living room upstairs with the bedrooms & bathroom downstairs. I hadnt seen much of these designs in SA. The owner put alot of thought into activities and reading material in the house. Very nice deck with swimming pool, table tennis and a pool table.

honestly everything was very easy for us and made our stay enjoyable, i recommend a washing machine for laundry incase visitors decides to stay for a week like we did
The location was perfect as it was just on the sea front and the shops were also nearby, i cannot really complain as we felt like home there, we can recommend it to anyone or even be our home next time in Durban

The fact that the jacuzzi was not working so we couldn't enjoy it. The kitchen didn't have bowls for desert, that would have been nice.
I loved the free wifi, the views, the pool setting.I loved how clean the apartment is, job well done.Everything was exceptional.

There are a lot of stairs in the apartment and also on the way to the pool area

Curtains was dirty . The place had too many stairs. It doesn't cater for elderly and people that have a problem with the there legs.

We were not informed that toiletries such as soap and toilet paper was only supplied upon arrival. Due to there being public holidays there were no cleaning service for 3 days and we ran out of clean towels. Only upon enquiry did the manager come on day 4 to supply us with clean towels, When the cleaner did come up the place, she did not take all the dirty towels. We also found some cockroaches in the unit.
