Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. South AfricaWhat could've been better is having a small bin in the shared bathrooms and simple cleaning items (sweep, dustpan, bin) within some of their shared family rooms instead of going all the way downstairs to get cleaning items. Otherwise, the cleaning items were there, although downstairs.
Great location and good people. I would definitely book again. Beautiful guesthouse where the owner stays there and other guest as well. Never feels crowded as everyone is in their own space with free access to roam around.

South AfricaSomething I mentioned to my host. It is just not ideal to share your space with guests. Guests on their own can share if its what they choose. It is the most uncomfortable situation that I would advise anyone not to try and do. That is the reason I had to leave early. It was not working for us both, and we tried. Particularly with the big family like theirs.. It's a no! no! no! It is for this reason why you should not share your space. When we notify booking.com we are leaving, Man of the house started to have trust issues. He said we must give him our identity documents before he can respond to booking.com. Further to that, after we have long gone, he said we must hand over the front door key that he did not give it to us......
The family tried to accommodate us, and giving up their shared bathroom for my family meant a lot to me.

South AfricaThe beds only had linen on. No duvet or blanket. The closets were full of their stuff. There were mosquito's - no repellant. The room is very much part of the household.
We skipped the breakfast unfortunately. The family was polite. Very beautiful house and swimming pool.

Even when we complain about the hot water issue , they didn't give us a better solution. They just said all the people in the area are using solar gyser and they is nothing they can do

South AfricaSharing of the bathroom with other guests...no no. The room is too small. There's no aircon in the room, I even had to request for a fan which was a hassle given the attitude of the owner which was not welcoming. There were no tea facilities in the room nor bar fridge. There was no television which the owner promised to provide but failed.The overall environment is not suitable for a guest house... it's too compact and not visitor friendly.
This establishment is not ready to host guests. The owners need some workshops on hospitality management.

South AfricaThis is supposed to be a B&B, not live and share with a family. Upon arrival, after 10 hours on the road, we had to stand outside the premises in the heat and wait for 15 minutes before the owner opened the gate, and then he was still speaking with a person who looked like family. I got in my car and drove to the nearest hotel. I did not even bother to book in at the place, he can keep the money that was paid upfront. Pathetic.

This is not a place for us. I send an Email and still waiting for my refund.
