I CANNOT think of ONE thing that I did not like. It was a wonderful place to stay!

The property was immaculate! The staff followed Ansley’s lead and were helpful and truly pleasant to be around.

The guest house and bedroom were tastefully decorated with a high degree of cleanliness. The team were lovely and friendly. The seafront location and views are jaw-dropping. I couldn't fault Abalone and would happily recommend to anyone.

The dinner. We opted to eat at the hotel where a chef comes in to cook a few times a week. We booked dinner for 6.30 but actually everybody was served at the same time and we ended up eating at 7.30 which was later than we would have liked. We were not offered all the choices on the menu. The crayfish starter was very good and the dessert platter was good. The main course (I had fish which was overcooked and my husband had steak which was tough) was poor.

The breakfast was excellent thank you. There was plenty of choice and everything was fresh. We didn’t sample the hot breakfast but everything else was great

We tried to eat dinner there one evening but were told on the day that the chef wasn't available. It was absolutely fine as we just headed into town, but it would be good to have some backup options in case we didn't want to leave the property.

It's nice being a bit removed from centre of town, but still very close to access. The property is very peaceful. Highly recommend a sea view room! Fab breakfast.

We absolutely loved our stay here, the location was great - a short drive or coastal walk to the centre of hermanus and close to the lovely beaches. The views are amazing and generally the ambience is so relaxing. The pool area is excellent and the rooms are lovely and well looks after. Breakfast was brilliant with a great selection and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. We loved it!

Didn’t matter for us - but it’s about a 25 minute walk into town so just one to be aware of. Similarly, they don’t serve lunch so something to consider if you’re having a day by the pool!

Lovely hotel - beautiful views of the sea. Great pool, and delicious food served for breakfast and dinner. Numerous things to do nearby.

The one and only thing I would change about this place is the pillows. They have very little ‘stuffing’ left in them or are poor quality pillows. Not comfortable at all.

Everything about this places makes you feel at home. There are so many extra touches to make your stay more comfortable. A variety of board games, comfy sofas to lounge on, reading material, plenty pool towels and a superb honesty bar to name a few. Breakfast is exemplary with a huge choice of fruit, breads, meat, juice and a cooked choice.

Nothing really, I gave it a four for location as it’s a bit further out of town but then that does make it very peaceful. It would impact those who don’t drive a little more as it was easy to park in town when we visited both day and evening.

We had a beautiful ocean view suite and the room was gorgeous. All the communal areas too are wonderfully designed and stylish. The management and staff were very professional and warm and the kitchen team cooked a brilliant breakfast

We had a wonderful stay at Abalone, all the staff were so helpful and made our stay exceptional. Lovely room, comfy bed, very clean, great side gate to lovely cliff walk into Hermanus. The pool was great relaxing area and the breakfast was lovely with beautiful sea view from the terrace.

Ansley and his team made us feel so welcome and his customer service was outstanding. The view from our room was just awesome and we saw whales everyday from our room . Great breakfast and location with a walk along the coastal walk to the Old Harbour was brilliant. Would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay

It's not a criticism of the Abalone, but it was quite a hike to the main part of town. Local advice seemed to be not to walk back after dark.

We loved being so close to the cliff path. We loved seeing whales from our room. The breakfast was very good and the staff were extremely considerate.
