Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaService in the restaurant is very very slow - food is however excellent The pool is sustainable and nice but a shower or bucket of water would be nice in that area for those not willing to swim The painting of the pool floor should be improved. I burnt my feed
The peaceful environment, the design, the location and the food were excellent

NetherlandsThe only downside is that breakfast only starts at 7am when the park is already open.
What a beautiful accommodation with very friendly staff. Cosy, spacious rooms with lovely beds. Every day it was cleaned. There was always coffee/tea available too. The restaurant at the hotel is very cosy with good food. In addition, you can get to the National Park - Addo Elephant Park - in about 15min.

Great place to stay and explore Addo Elephant park. The rooms are "tiny houses" and beautiful decorated. There is a nice, natural swimming pool to relax and the restaurant is amazing!

GermanyThere were quite a few dead frogs all over the property. Would’ve been nice if they’d be cleaned up.
The food at the restaurant is simply amazing, staff really nice, very cute rooms. Small but that’s something you know beforehand! Had a frog choir sing us to sleep (I found that very relaxing, my husband not so much :D)

A very cosy bungalow that’s very close to the Addo Elephant Park. In our opinion, it’s the perfect hide-out if you’re planning to visit the park. There’s also a restaurant with absolutely delicious, organic food. Fantastic!

Netherlandsit’s an ecological lodge, so be aware that they use rainwater and you will shower in that water. it doesn’t impact your stay but be aware of this. also a lot of sounds from frogs and birds during the night. could keep you up.

United Statesthe food choices at the restaurant could have been more suited to families. Its a high end restaurant but doesn't offer a children's menu making the food choices pretty difficult.
the room was exceptional with a beautiful canopy bed and a lovely view of the garden. We also enjoyed the shared living room and tea/coffee bar. We felt very safe and the whole family instantly relaxed. it was great.

United KingdomDecor was dark and dingy. Sound proofing in our room in the lodge (Emmanuel Diaz) was insufficient. Could hear the toilet being used in adjacent room and presume they could hear us.
The friendly staff and the location near the Elephant Park. The eco ethos and the training scheme in the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent

BelgiumGenerally, this stay is slightly overrated in our view. We paid around EUR 100 per night and felt like it was a little too much (note that if you book via Booking, you don’t end up in a little hut but in the main building). The hotel staff was not very friendly and the rooms give an outdated and “dusty” impression. Load shedding impacts the lights, the restaurant menu, etc. Also, during the safari tour, they put us on a car that was so old and worn out that the wheel broke down before even entering the park. Luckily, there was a group on a decent car willing to switch spots for the day or we would not have had a safari at all…
Location was excellent: close to the park, quiet and safe. Restaurant was amazing: friendly staff and very good food.

NetherlandsThe water in bathroom was contaminated. It smells like poop. There was a problem with the filter maintenance. In the bathroom there were instructions that ‘if it was brown flush it down’ and if it was ‘yellow, let it mellow’ 🤮. We have eaten at the accommodation restaurant and the price was very high, R1500 for a meal for 2 persons. That is very high in South Africa. Our room was full of flies. No refrigerator in the room, no airco. We stayed 2 night and on the first night we didn’t have any electricity. There was no compensation in the price we have paid. We sat there by candle light. The staff had energy from a generator. It was a disappointing stay. We recommend Africanos. The food was very good and it was clean.
Nothing. Only the bed was good.
