We had a lovely stay at Derricks property. He was very friendly and welcoming as were his three dogs. The directions to the property were very detailed and we found our way there easily. The tent was in a beautiful spot in the forest / bush with the sounds of birds all around us. The tent was very comfortable and clean with lovely plush bedding and lots of pillows and blankets and sufficient lighting as well as a kettle and provisions for tea and coffee. Our children loved the adventure of staying in the tent and the rustic bush swing.

Absolutely fantastic experience! Real-feel of being in nature. The view from our tent was amazing. We hiked multiple times and saw many different birds and even heard the lions from the Lion Safari Park. The host Derrick and his dogs (Raven, Taz and Domino) were all extremely friendly. Really peaceful environment perfect for someone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle. Thank you so much for having us Derrick!

Honestly nothing, the place is amazing. Obviously if you are a person who is finicky about staying in nature, like seeing spiders or bugs then this might not be the place for you but if you are all for nature and enjoy the surroundings of nature, then this is a must visit!

The host was very welcoming and friendly, willing to do everything in his capability to make our stay even better than it already was. The sounds you hear at night are unmatched, from the owls, to the lions, to the jackal, honestly an experience of note! The dogs were really cute, even slept outside our tent at night.

Nothing in particular as the discription is very accurate. Locating the exac adress will be improved for future guests. For us non-south africans the availability of an UPS or back-up generator to long load shedding periods can be reccomended.

African bush feeling is in focus. The host made great efforts to inform on the arrival information and the location a great place for relaxation very close to the bush in a rock-garden with winding paths. So if you aim for a cosy spot in the middle of the nature then its a 10.

I’m tired of soulless rooms in sterile hotels that I can barely tell from one another. I enjoy places with personality. And Derick’s place was exactly that. It had everything we needed. The place was clean, the outdoor kitchen was perfect, and the pool was lovely. If you want, you can enjoy the company of Derick, a gentle, sincere old man, and his 3 wonderful dogs. This makes for better memories than a lonely room in some hotel you won’t remember. We laughed and ate and talked about life with a man we would not have otherwise met, then we enjoyed our private time on a comfortable bed with the birds playing an orchestra in the background. This is, in my opinion, what life is about.

The ENVIRONMENT! The Bush! You can be OUTSIDE the whole time. The walking trails and even night walks could be done. Beautiful swimming pool! The braai and campfires. Lots of bird species if you love photography! Beautiful rock formations. If you're a doglover, 3 beautiful dogs 🐕 on the premises. Comfortable rondavel! Everything you need to braai or cook. Peaceful - not ONE sound of traffic! Only the sounds of animals. The road to the place wasn't that bad at all - I drove it with my little Golf! The place is beautiful and very secluded. The tent is spacious and in a private area. Derrick is a wonderful host. We loooved the Dogs!! Were so friendly, all 3 slept outside our tent the whole night and followed us every where.

Derrick is an excellent host and made us feel right at home. He went the extra mile by setting up the outside area for us as we were celebrating our anniversary. The location of the lodge is beautiful and peaceful and we could completely relax and switch off. I also felt safe our entire stay and the views are gorgeous! You could hear nature, from birds to lions. The room is setup nicely and the bed was nice and comfy. Overall a great experience!

It needs a woman touch.....

It was a unique experience in the Bush. Just nature, too beautiful. Surrounded by mountains, beautiful mountains views. peaceful, serene, tranquility, a healing place, relaxes the soul, birds singing, when sprinkles are on, it's looks like a rainforest. Can not get better than this. Really enjoyed our stay away. We had the pleasure to meet Derrick, the owner, a very welcoming person, a kind, friendly, peaceful soul. He made us feel comfortable and free. We were allowed to take our little 4-legged fur baby with us, and he was accepted by 3 big lovable big dogs, which they are so friendly, well-behaved. The one (zebra like) dog took us on the mountain trails and guided us all the way there and back. I loved to swim in the rocky pool. Loved the barn fire 🔥 Wow! It was nice. We loved 😍 everything. We are looking forward to coming back soon.

Tranquil. Clean air. No city noise. Only bush sounds.. Lions roaring. Jackals calling. Birds flitting all over. Bonfire and a request for a special love song. Derrick went out of his way to made our stay comfortable and memorable. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend.
