Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaI only have one recommendation. I have stayed at more than one Africamps in the past and find the tents very well equipped except for one thing. They need lightweight chairs that can be used on the wooden deck. The white steel dining table chairs are not comfortable to use at the braai area and the two very heavy wooden chairs supplied on the deck are not enough for a group of five persons and are not comfortable at all. Older guests (we had a grandparent with us) cannot sit in these very low and deep wooden chairs which are also very hard and uncomfortable. Also far too heavy to move around. So lightweight camping or outdoor chairs for around the braai at wooden deck area would be my suggestion. Other than that we loved having electric blankets, and the kitchen was well stocked with sharp steak knives and everything essentially needed. Only the seating needs an upgrade. Next time we will take our own camping chairs for the braai.
Everything about Africamps is lovely. We have been to Oudtshoorn and also Swellendam Africamps and enjoyed them both.

GermanyWe are a family of five and we stayed for three nights in a beautiful, very spacious and clean tent at Africamps. We had a wonderful view on the little lake and enjoyed the sunset with a glass of wine. The ordered braai- and breakfast baskets were great and I would recommend doing this south african style barbecue. We also participated in a meerkat safari, which we loved.

NetherlandsWhat a great place in Oudtshoorn! We've been to Oudtshoorn before, but this place was so much nicer. The adventurous feeling of camping in the 'outback' is fantastic. The kids had a great time because of the pool and playground. We opted for the braai package both evenings, and the very friendly camp manager helped us get started with that. A big plus for us was the communication via the app with the camp manager. Before we arrived, he had already texted us with clear check-in instructions, so we were in the pool within 5 minutes of arrival :). They also assisted us well in booking activities. The rest of the staff was also friendly. Thank you very much for everything!

GermanyThe location is not too far far from the highway, you can see the cars passing in far distance behind the fish pond - and in humid air (e.g. in the morning) you will also hear them as a light background noise. It never becomes a nuisance though. Not an important point, but perhaps interesting to know: We found the "BBQ basket" option not too convincing. Very good, dry firewood, but the meat was delivered defrosted, which is understandable, but the quality is simply not like that of fresh meat - which is particularly noticeable with the ostrich steak. The accompanying pasta salad was not tasty. Suggestion: buy firewood, BBQ meat and sides of your choice from a local supermarket (e.g. Spar on high street) and make your own braai. And avoid lean ostrich meat, which will only get as dry as a shoe sole ;o) - choose a well-marbled piece of beef instead. :o))
Tent based accommodation "glamping" style - even equipped with aircon / heating. Relaxed atmosphere. Should be perfect for families with 1 - 3 young kids who wouldn't like to spend a lot of money on two separate rooms in standard (B&B, hotel ...) accommodation. Friendly staff, nice views over a large pond with waterfowl, tent equipped with many useful items, all very clean. The "breakfast basket" option was nice for the first morning after our arrival. Braai area nicely located in a place with views, close to the tent and half surrounded by bushes.

South AfricaSmall maintenance issues (shower drain blocked) and a few of the cooking utensils need replacing. Pillows were a challenge to be hypercritical.

South AfricaThe running water is untreated dam water from the dam in front of the camp. It is unsafe to drink and frankly unpleasant to use in any sense. Washing dishes and taking showers ends up leaving an unpleasant dam-like smell in the cabin.
The absolute definition of glamping. Our family from abroad were overjoyed by their first camping experience. Clean, comfortable and still with a true sense of staying in a tent. The view and animals around made it extra special.
