Fantastic welcome from Arnold Hoon. We were given a lovely bedroom upstairs with great facilities facing the veld. It had all the amenities needed from gorgeous fragrant toiletries to coffee and tea-making facilities; all well-spaced and compact. On the same level, we shared a charming terrace with other guests to have sundowners enjoying a view of the sea and beach. The ah! Guest Lodge is only about 150 metres from the sea. Safe parking outside and is within walking distance of restaurants and some shops. We had great assistance with our flat car battery. Although we had to leave very early the next day, we delved into a fabulous fresh fruit breakfast and coffee. Good value. What a charming arty guest house. Loved it! We would certainly stay here again and stay longer.

To be honest ….there was nothing we did not like!

On arrival Arnold gave us a very warm welcome and showed us our room.It was a first floor well appointed room with views of the sea. The room was well equipped with so many lovely little touches …bath robes…slippers..lovely fragrant toiletries..filter coffee..a small fridge with jug fresh milk and large bottle water. The Wi-Fi was fast with very good signal.Even during load shedding we had lights although we only had one episode during our stay and therefore was no inconvenience at all The extra large bed was incredibly comfortable… not too soft ..with excellent pillows.We slept incredibly well. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding .There was fresh fruit, homemade granola..homemade yoghurt ,2 different fruit juices..barista coffee and assortment of teas. The second course for breakfast was a freshly made mushroom omelette served as a roll with small oven roasted tomatoes and crispy bacon. Absolutely delicious.We finished off with a small piece French toast with scoop ice cream nestled on the top.A truly delicious meal.Apparently Arnold also cooks dinner several times a week for his guests although we were not able to join him this time the menu sounded like a 5* restaurant with local cray fish served .Without doubt Arnold has missed his vocation as he is an outstanding chef with his attention to detail on presenting very tasty food.We very much hope that we will return to AH! again and will ensure that we book in for dinner too.

On the way home having a careless driver reverse into us in Riebeek Kasteel and then having a tyre blowout on the R44. In temps of 38.5!

The breakfasts were excellent. Very creative dishes. A wonderful change from the usual South African breakfast of egg and bacon, toast and jam.

Can't think of anything we didn't like except perhaps duvets too hot.

We needed a break after a stressful move with alterations, and this was the perfect place. We had a lovely little seating area next to our bedroom and the cherry on top was the outstanding dinner and two breakfasts we had. Arnold is a chef of note - his breakfasts were most unusual - the best we've ever had. Enjoyed our stay very much - Arnold and Annalise very welcoming.

Eating meals at one table with other guests was a new experience for us and slightly out of our comfort zone. It ended up being an enjoyable experience and we met interesting people. It might not be for everyone though..

The food was awesome and everything was homemade and delicious. We also enjoyed the location that was a bit out of the hustle and bustle. Good quality items in the rooms (particularly enjoyed the Le Creuset coffee mugs and coffee pour over) and throughout the guesthouse...Good quality linen and the guesthouse is furnished tastefully with interesting art to be found everywhere.
