How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It wasn’t really clean, the room service wasn’t working good and also didn’t replace items. Pool dirty/ unusable, sauna ok, gym not as shown in the pictures (actually unusable), loud when room close to the elevator. My room had a door to another room, which was locked but I could see through the limps through the other side. I also heard every word from this and the other room around me. Dirty shower!
Centrally located, proper breakfast for the price.

It was abit cold during the night and out air conditioning was only blowing cold air, but an extra blanket was offered.
The waiters, the securities and the chefs were phenomenal! They showed love for their work by making sure our expectations were as expected!

Reception staff very incompetent. Check in not properly in order. Waited long to be assisted. Receptionidt very rude

The rooms at the front of the hotel open onto a square where, every day, dozens of stalls are erected in the morning and then taken down in the evening. The noise is substantial. I booked an airport pickup and it never arrived.
The breakfast was very good. The hotel was located in the center of Cape Town.

The pool had some soil sendiments and they could probably consider heating it for cold days
I love the central location, and their breakfast was yummy though they could change it up a bit to give some variety.... I love the Zeal of Ernest! That is their best employee in My opinion.

My only concern is that the parking is a few blocks away. We couldn't park there because we were in and out most of the time. Further, parking is a cost. What is comforting though is that there is 24-hour security at night guarding after cars

The toilet space was a bit narrow. The shower head needs maintenance. The extractor fan in the bathroom. The bathroom was a bit small.
Location was perfect. Breakfast was amazing. Friendly staff. Meets all the needs and expectations.

The manner in which some of your staff members are treated me, particularly the lady called Amahle, the maintenance guy who was working night shift on Saturday and the chef was just not a friendly person towards me and I assumed she inherited the treatment I got from Amahle as I saw them together after I reported her and going to the eat breakfast was just not so pleasant because of her
It was good value for money , and I appreciated the manner you handle complaints, you are so effective and I really felt at home away from home. Besides some staff members failing you as your ambassadors I wouldn't take away the overall stay which was very good and I have definitely started recommending your hotel to my family and friends. A big thank you to the reception ladies who were awesome and very welcoming and the staff at the entrance and the lady who intervened in my matter and sorted it out. Keep up the good work.

I didn't request a quiet but I did ask to change my room as the setting up of the market early in the morning for me was very noisy and I did not want to be woken early. I thought there should have been a couple more sun beds by the pool. Two was not enough.
Breakfast was very nice, good choice. Pick up and drop off from the airport was good.
