Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe best place we have ever stayed! Staff were brilliant from the second we arrived, and made us feel very welcome. The food was exceptional at breakfast, lunch and dinner and the portions were very generous. The lodges themselves were spacious and clean and the huge bath was a treat. The decking area was also great and we were lucky enough to see a herd of elephants just metres away one afternoon. Most importantly we loved the game drives - we were guided by Devine who was so friendly and knowledgable about the different animals and bush in general, we learnt so much. We were very lucky to have seen the big five as well as so much more.

GermanyUnfortunately, we only had a very brief encounter with one male lion and did not see any other cats there. This is probably due to the season (we were there in April) but also the region. Areas like Sabi Sand further south have a lot more cats but accomodation is a lot more expensive there, too.
Upon arrival, we were surprised with the news that we would be the only guests for our first night and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special one. The food was great and the hosts were just wonderful. The game drives did not disappoint either. We had a very special encounter with lots of elephants on our first drive and saw giraffes and hippos (albeit submerged) too. On following drives we added hyenas and rhinos as well as kudus, impalas and other antilopes to the list as well.

SwitzerlandEverything was great. We had a night without electricity due to Escom load shedding and the sudden breakdown of the generator. Generator was fixed the next morning. One remark; If the generator breaks down next time it might be good to inform the guests what is happening.
Very friendly staff (they go the extra mile) and excellent home made food. No buffet so nu food waste. Game drives were very nice. Beautiful reserve.

United KingdomBe prepared for hidden cost such as tipping at the end of your trip. Having dinner outside by the fireplace was a lovely lovely touch however during the summer season there are too many insects so it’s hard to enjoy your dinner.
everything was included in the one price! Our game drivers were incredible and made sure we saw loads of animals. The rooms/ lodges were insane and the chef was on top form.

South AfricaThere was no Wi-fi availability in the rooms. It was only available at the main lodge.
The intimate atmosphere was great. It is not a big lodge, with only a few chalets. It was therefore very quiet and peaceful and all the visitors and staff got to know each other. The game viewing was superb. We were lucky to see the "big 5" on our first game drive! The food was excellent and with every meal the chef came to introduce the courses.

Things started well when we were met by Lynette the manager and given a full tour of the property, including our room. On our first night, we were surprised with a candlelit veranda and bottle of fizz after our game drive, to celebrate our honeymoon, which was very special. Game drives twice daily with Moven and Paul were wonderful, with regular high quality sightings of game. Moven really went above and beyond to ensure we saw the big five, and had the opportunity to spend time enjoying our sightings, often finishing drives late to allow this. We also did a morning walk with Jason, Paul and Cunnan which was a real highlight- giving us an fascinating insight into the delicate balance of the local ecosystem, and we even sighted a leopard! The food was abundant and delicious, and the bar well stocked and good value. The nightly dinners by the fire were lovely as an opportunity to get to know our fellow guests, and we very much enjoyed being joined by Paul one evening, who was excellent company and told us lots of fascinating stories about his experiences as a guide. The rooms were huge, beautifully decorated and the bath was a delight. We cannot wait to return.
