Berghaven Accommodation provided the perfect retreat for us! While my husband enjoyed fishing in one of the four dams, I savored peaceful moments on the comfortable outdoor furniture under the trees, with a glass of wine in hand. The bed was heavenly, the shower refreshing, and having braai facilities right outside was so convenient. And oh, the fireplace—absolutely my favorite! The surrounding area offered so much to do, from quad biking to canopy tours, and the local food was simply amazing. A stay here is an absolute delight!

Absolutely nothing to complain about

The most beautiful view from the living area. Unpretentious lodging with everything you need for a couple of days' stay in the cottages. Enough wall plugs, conveniently placed. Very peaceful, yet close enough to everything in the area.

The staff could be friendlier. We didn't meet the person running it. There were signs up underlining the 10 am. check-out time, suggesting guests' departure was the priority. There was a notice advising to download an app for the load-shedding schedule. Given that there was no WiFi and a very poor phone signal, it would have been kinder to provide the timetable. The owner's dogs were a persistent nuisance.

The location! It's a beautifully situated cottage with a stunning view. It was really quiet and peaceful with a great seating area outside. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. It's well placed for visits into Monks Cowl and Cathedral Peak. We really enjoyed our stay despite the negative points noted below.

The only thing was the pot holes in the drive leading to the property which needed careful navigation and made access slow. Property and staff were fabulous.

Berghaven is located in a stunning surrounding overlooking the majestic Drakensberg mountains and two dams with lots of bird life. Its a serene location to relax and unwind and enjoy the beauty of the Drakensberg.

Everything was to our satisfactory.

The peaceful green forest and water lily dam in the environment made you forget about the busy and rushed world. The owners Cat and James were so accomodating and friendly. I love how they made use the old dead tree logs to garden with. A clever idea!

We stayed in a well-appointed cottage overlooking a dam. The outside seating area afforded views of Cathkin Peak and the surrounding mountains. The setting is peaceful & quiet and we would certainly stay here again. Highly recommended. Well-placed, affordable accommodation in the central Berg area.

I loved the place.

The scenery is outstanding, with amazing birdlife. There is a gorgeous play area that the kids LOVED! They even provided a gas kettle for load shedding - which we thought was great and added a caring touch. I'm in a wheelchair and this was one of the best layouts of an accessible bathroom that I've experienced.
