Out of Pieters control but regrettably load shedding was at the most inconvenient times, so long and so frequent. Not sure how businesses keep operating!

The cleanliness - nothing better than going to sleep on crisp, clean white linen!! Hospitality 110% The lodge is right on the beach with great views.

The host, Peter, was great. The location was right on the beach, as we wanted, and the staff took care of all our needs.

Room was a bit dingy in the back of the building with the only view from the deck in the front of the house . Which is a spectacular view and location.

Had an absolutely pleasant time at Black Rock Lodge in Port Edward. The host, Pieter, made us feel welcome from the very minute we stepped into the lodge. Pieter even gave us a room upgrade because we were one of two guests checked in for the night. The room over looked the sea and we could hear the waves clashing against the rocks. The breakfast was amazing, the room was spotless, the bed was soooo comfortable. I would recommend this accommodation to any one looking for an affordable comfortable stay.

There is no sign to let you know that you are at the right place. We ended up parking next door at the wrong place. The room was very noisy because the room next door had a bathroom ventilation system that filtered into ours. Therefore, we could hear our neighbors brushing their teeth. The place is a little bit pricey (no swimming pool) compared to other places we stayed at during our vacation. We stayed in a lot of +9 places during our vacation and this one didn't meet our expectations but it was a correct stay.

The location by the sea is great. It is also close to the red desert and not far from the beach. Our room was very big and had air conditioning. Breakfast was good.

There was nothing not to like, but wheat and gluten free products would be appreciated.

The warmth by the host, Pieter. We arrived quite late and had a puncture on the way about 2 hours away, resulting in our being another hour later than scheduled - 22h30 and he stayed up and was ready to take our call and to direct us. He also took a lot of trouble to cook an additional dish for me at breakfast to make up for not having gluten free bread.

Our room was not cleaned and the bed not made the next day despite us having requested the services. This made us feel a Lil sad 😟.

It is not a lodge as advertised but rather cottages/backrooms that are so small and uncomfortable.

Extremely dissatisfied, frustrated, dissapointed etc not being able to shower/bath due to NO water in the shower/bath taps whatsoever!!!! We have just packed up house and had been "sweating like pigs"! There were barely enough water to rinse my mouth after brushing my teeth! There was however water for flushing the loo. The current water contingency plan IS NOT working!

I did not like the owner, making subtle passes at me. The room was not sea facing and did not have a patio like I had seen in the photo's on booking.com. The price was also not what I would have paid given that it didn't even have a view. The toilet was leaking and made a dripping sound the whole night.

I liked that the owner was friendly and accommodating given that I arrived in the evening.
