How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I loved everything.
I loved EVERYTHING about this apartment! Interior is amazing. Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, fantastic views. Staff is extremely helpful. Had no issues at all.

No coffee or sugar in the room.
Very modern place, esthetically pleasing and smells great on arrival. Beautiful view of the water with a stunning waterfall. The landscape was stunning from the balcony and a good place to go for a walk or jog in the morning. The place is very neat and clean with all inclusive online steaming on T.V and WIFI. Exceptional service from the host. Safe and secure parking allocated to you with a parking card. Close by to Canal Walk shopping center. Absolute value for money. Would definitely book again!

We didn't get the apartment that we paid for, as our reservation didn't pull through onto their system. The apartment was small, and I didn't get the balcony we paid for. Only gave us one bath towel, no additional towels, staff came 30 minutes before check up to come and clean. Their wasn't anything compensation or goodwill gesture made for the inconvenience. Some of the plugs weren't working in the room. Will never book with them ever again. We couldn't even access the wifi and had issues with the parking due to their system error. Staff made us feel as if they were doing us a favor to give us another room. We waited more than 30 minutes to check in.Expensive for the small apartment, booked much better places for less before. Will definitely not recommend it. Worst experience ever

02:00 the alarm went off for the hotel for no reason with no response to any hotel guests what to do weather to leave the buidling stay in rooms. when calling reception was just told "i dont know what it is and what you must do i need to go check". My toiletries being left in the room and not returned to basicallly be told they were stolen by housekeeping.

The reception staff was rude and very unfriendly. Check inn was a nightmare after the traveling. I was 1 hour earlier, and they refused to let me check inn despite the room being ready. They asked me to pay R300 extra

Fridge didn't work. Door buzzer nearby at 3am. Apartment doors banging shut.

Excessively load alarm in my room and passage from 10pm to just before midnight. Unacceptable. No one could give me a reason. This is a serious cause for concern and a lack of safety. Were we supposed to evacuate!? As a guest, I would honestly expect a full refund for this inconvenience and a lack of sleep as a result. Furthermore, there were cockroaches in the room. I haven’t seen this in a hotel room for years. Are these rooms ever checked by management? It took me 10 minutes to firstly drive around figure out where to park and then further time walking around trying to find the reception. There is no mention of this in any of the mails I received.

They didn't supply enough toilet paper in the apartment, which resulted in us running out in the middle of the night

The only in-house restaurant, Gusto, caters very poorly to vegetarians. The staff at the restaurant was also not friendly and accommodating and presented a “take it or leave approach”.
The hotel accommodation is centrally located in the city, and the facility is neat, clean, and contemporary.

They don't accept cash payments anymore. I had to go to an ATM to deposit at the mall Maybe it should be declared upfront when booking I was petrified that would not get somewhere to sleep if l failed to deposit the money

Reception staff is not welcoming at all, it was my second time at the property, got the same treatment, though the guys who helped with the bags and parking were very nice. lazy front desk, a simple task like adding a vat number on the invoice. I was told to email for me to be helped. it felt like they were doing me a favour, didn’t make me and my family feel welcomed. Too serious for front desk
