Dietary requirements could not be met. Was asked before if we have dietary request, but no attention or alternatives were available. So was unable to eat 2 of the dishes.

Breakfast was very good. Just disappointed that they did not have almond milk or alternative options for dairy.

The bathroom was very large and there is ample space so I am not sure why the shower in the bathroom is so small. There is enough to space to put in a large luxury shower and even just changing the shower head would improve the shower. The water was also not particularly hot.

We attended a wedding in the area and decided to sleep over at Budmarsh to avoid driving back late at night. We were delighted with our choice of accommodation. The room was large and very comfortable. It had been heated up for our arrival and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful even taking photos of us all dolled up in the beautiful gardens. Breakfast the next morning was very good and once again the staff were polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

No working underfloor heating and the tiles were freezing in the room/bathroom. (I'm sure it was disconnected due to inflated electricity rates).

Lovely location next to the river. Spacious room, comfortable bed and pillows. Clean and tidy, great staff and service. Loved the food and very accommodating with the menu. Room service was awesome.

The gas fires in my bedroom and that of my friend were not working in the morning, possibly out of gas, but they gave the rooms a lovely atmosphere when we arrived.

This is a very comfortable, characterful hotel. It reminds one strongly of the Cape in architecture and gardens. The bedrooms are huge, comfortable and nicely furnished, and the bathrooms large and well-equipped. Very friendly staff who could not do enough to make one welcome.

Staff seemed unsure and couldn't tell us how tipping process works - it became awkward trying to tip. Didn't feel very welcome in general, waited a while at reception for someone to meet us.

Breakfast wasn’t so good and it took quite a while especially if you had ordered eggs Benedict. The rooms need a refresher especially the bathrooms, the shower was tiny and there’s no place to put product.

The evening kitchen staff is really good, the dinners were really amazing. The grounds are beautiful and it’s quiet. The waiters were helpful, especially Felix, he’s kind and lovely.

The pool was very cold and the water was low. Apparently the way was due to a water issue in the area.

It’s a lovely farmhouse not far from jhb and close to outside spa and activities you can do during the day. Very well located and beautiful.

Aircon in the second bedroom didnt work and it was uncormfortable in the heat. They tried to put in a fan but that didnt help much. Christmas lunch was a complete disaster. Despite the fact that we paid in advance and were staying on the premises, we couldnt be accomodated in the main dining area on the day. The venue was overbooked and allowed people who werent staying at the premise to come in for lunch. So some residents found themselves sitting in an empty hall just tables, with no decorations, no music and still charged the full price of R550per person for the XMas lunch.

Outdoor area is beautiful. But they need to use insect control on the grass cause our picnic was ruined by ants
