Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomInternet terrible and only works in main eating area (not in rooms) and intermittent phone signal. No electric in rooms (lights on battery which work well) - not going here for modern hotel room to be fair but a kettle to make coffee for example would have been nice. A balance I guess for the green credentials of the site.
Great location for the wild life, no fences around camp.

Sweet camp in Manyeleti Reserve. The tents are simple but spacious and contain everything you need. There are no fences arround so the animals can come to your patio. The family which runs the camp is very friendly. The game drives are fun and the food was very very good!!

SwitzerlandThat I had to leave after 2 days 😭😭😭
I have been there the 2nd time within 1 year and it feels like coming home. The people (Lynn, Dudley and the 2 other ladies) are warm and friendly, the place where it is situated is so beautiful with amazing views over the bush and the safari drives in Manyeleti are always successful. The food is tasty, water and soft drinks are free, if one wants wine or beer, it can be ordered beforehand. The tents have what one needs, the beds are comfortable and it is so quiet and peaceful. (If you are looking for luxury, it is maybe not the right place though.)

IrelandNothing.
The game drives were exceptional. Beckson went out of his way every single drive to try get us the best sightings of animals. Not every drive was 100% successful, but that is the nature of a legit wildlife safari! The accommodation was basic, but a fantastic experience in the wild. Waking to elephant noises is an experience I won't forget.

Location is fantastic if a little difficult to find. Animal sightings were exceptional thanks to our guide, Bexon. This is a back to nature experience and you have to be prepared likewise.

GermanyNothing. But from the gate to the camp takes around 1,5h with a very small car and a little bit of rain. Probably worth for planning. But you will already see a lot of animals during this ride!
Forget about the Kruger Parc. This is the place to be. Amazing game drives in an open car (max 9 persons) with a ranger that spots every animal and once spotted he gets you as close to them as you can imagine going off road no matter whether there is a road or not 😃 That was one of the greatest memories of my life (and believe me I had a lot already). We saw the big five and most of them from max. 5m distance. You won’t get that in the Kruger Parc. We spend 2 nights at the Buffelhoek Camp and had 2 late game drive and 2 early game drives. I would say that’s the perfect time to stay. Else everything is fine, food is great but a lot 😃 camp with no fences so that anything could come along any time. We had a hyena in the camp during our stay. But at no time we felt unsafe. Neither in the camp nore on the car. So if you go to South Africa go to this place!

United KingdomThere is not one thing we didn’t like about this place, it was beyond perfect!!!
What an amazing stay!!! The game driver was so knowledgeable and we got to see lots of incredible wildlife, including leopards and lions!! The food was outstanding, we had a vegetarian in the group and she was extremely impressed with the food the chef cooked and our food was also incredibly tasty. The accommodation and facilities were very lovely and very clean. The host Lynn went above and beyond!! I planned to propose to my fiancée and Lynn and her nephew helped to set everything up and make it such a perfect special moment!! Thank you so much!! This is a place that will forever be in our hearts and would 100% recommend staying here!!

United StatesNothing, everything was great.
I had such a great time at Buffelshoek Tented Camp. The location, the food and the staff were all amazing. The game drives were exceptional too, I got to see lions, elephants, giraffes, jackals, rhinos, etc... even a leopard! The guide is an experienced off-road driver who gets you very close to the animals and allows plenty of time to take pictures. He tracked down the leopard and found it resting on a tree. In the camp, they have wifi in the lobby of the main tent and several adapters to charge devices during the day or overnight. Even though it rained often when I was there, I didn't notice any mosquitoes. I didn't stay at Kruger national park, but I was told by other visitors at Buffelshoek that a big advantage to stay in Manyeleti rather than Kruger is that during game drives you can follow animals off the track, which you cannot do at Kruger. We'd never have seen the leopard that way. You'll get to see a large variety of animals during game drives, my favorite one was big and strong, walks slowly but steadily and can eradicate trees when angry. It also runs on diesel :-) (it's the Land Rover)

SwitzerlandWe had an absolutely fantastic time at the lodge. We arrived in time for lunch on the first day. The meals were always delicious and we were more than full. The game drives were simply perfect and the guide was extremely attentive, competent and funny. Our absolute highlight was meeting Wolfgang (the hyena). Thank you for this unforgettable time with you - we felt very comfortable and could have stayed much longer...

GermanyBeds were a little soft and springy for our taste.
Unfenced tented camp in the middle of the bush provided excellent safari feeling. Manyeleti is quite big and you get a feeling of being remote. We loved the food. Onward trip organization possible thanks to wifi. Game drives were a blast, despite school holiday we saw only few other visitors but many animals instead. Elvis was a great guide.

We loved it in this accommodation and were quite sad we could book only one night as it was already fully booked. The tent is very nice and comfortable. United StatesUnfortunately, the toilet in one of our three tents we had booked, was missing its seat, which was especially for the mom in our group, who had no other choice than that tent, as she shared a queen bed with the youngest member of the group, not very comfortable. As the property is far away from the other properties in the Manyeleti, we didn’t get to see as much as we had when we stayed at Ndzakha the time before. We missed a bit that it sometimes was considered not feasible to do the longer drive in order to join others in sightings that were announced on the radio.
The property is in a very serene and quiet place in the Manyeleti. This has its pros and cons. It a beautiful setup, especially with the big waterhole that can be seen from all the tents and from the high-up outdoor lounge on to of the dining area. The food was wonderful and always plenty. Dietary restrictions were well followed. Beckson, our guide, driver and tracker in one person tried his best to give us exceptional sightings every day. Unfortunately we arrived just a couple of hours after Tavangumi, the male leopard, had been found snared, which sent a shockwave through our group and made us extremely sad, as he had been on the very top of our wishlist. We did not like how some of the infos were handled regarded th incident, as we truly cared and felt and secrecy and too quick remarks, that everything would be fine again, felt very hurtful to us. It was not our first visit to the Manyeleti and we had looked so much forward to that visit.

NetherlandsGame drives can be hit and miss as wildlife cannot be orchestrated. Be aware to email dietary before arrival as all meals are a set menu.
Great location in Greater Kruger, bordering Kruger and Sabi Sands. A lovely couple as owners, well trained staff, good food and sightings of a lifetime made for a memorable stay. We had a waterbuck, 2 elephants and 2 hyenas in camp. Game drives are very well done, and you can get much closer to wildlife than in Kruger itself. The highlight of it all was witnessing 2 cheetahs hunting and killing an impala right before our eyes.

AustraliaThere is nothing to complain about.
Authentic safari lodge, very affordable. The meals were excellent, drinks were available in the community fridge constantly. Sure it is a tented camp, but that added to the allure of staying at Buffelshoek. The game drives were excellent, our driver knew his business, found every animal he said he would find. Asked for extra blankets, supplied immediately.

We had a fantastic stay within Buffleshoek. There are 5 tents located in the camp without any fence. During the night an elephant was one meter away from our tent and on the way to the main tent we saw a hyena less then 2meters away. This was an unforgettable experience and made us feel very close to nature. Everyday we had two game drives one in the morning and one in the evening. We had a great guide who was spotting a lot of animals and after 2 game drives we already had the big 5 together. The local staff is very nice and friendly and prepared very delicious food. The hosts were very welcoming, super fun, and very helpful and helped us with our travel plans. We can highly recommend this accomodation. You will have a unique close to nature kind of experience!
