Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe only complaints I have is that we requested accommodation for 3 adults, but it was entirely unsuitable for people who are not families or couples. Well, we are a family, but my dad is elderly and couldn't squeeze into the second bedroom, which also had no door. However, with some extra (but heavily discounted payment we were able to get the adjoining unit, so that was sorted out. The other thing is that my dad ordered a kudu fillet, which was uncuttable and inedible. He couldn't eat it, it was so tough. It was definitely not fillet, and it was overcooked. I feel we should have been refunded for his meal.
Location, location, location. The staff were fabulous, the ambience is unique. The food was great and the staff went out of their way to actually make me a delicious vegan cake for my birthday! The view is spectacular.

GermanySuch a beautiful experience at Botlierskop! Stayed in one of their amazing suits overlooking whatever deer or antelope wanted to stroll past. We ordered room service both nights because the room was so wonderful we just didn’t want to leave! We did 2 game drives with the amazing Ranger Innocent. The drive feels pretty wild for a smaller reserve and it is just as enjoyable being in the car as it climbs up and down the hills and through little forests as it is in that moment you first spot an elephant or lion. Innocent is very knowledgeable and we had so much fun with him that we would absolutely go again just for the experience!

NetherlandsThe location is amazing, but 30 minutes away from ADDO. So it's not actually at the border or in the park (we feel we were mislead on that point). 30 minutes is quite long... Also the the safari trips they offer into the park are quite expensive.
Staff is super friendly. We had a beautiful room with an amazing view. Same goes for the restaurant and the pool. Place is amazing. Giraffe walk & Elephant walk excursions were great (really recommend it).

SwedenEverything was great - the view, the surroundings and nature, the tent/hotel room, the staff, the food, the safari. But I feel like I need to warn any fellow acrophobics before booking because there were cobwebs and big spiders EVERYWHERE. It's not their fault, this is deep in nature so could be expected, but I personally think they should try to clean up and remove the most visible cobwebs and try to spider-sanitize around the main building and the tents to make it more pleasant for everyone because it was literally in your face anywhere you looked and it was very difficult for me to fully enjoy the experience.

United StatesOur game drive host was excellent but the weather was not. The day was rainy and I feel the touring truck was not well equipped to handle the weather. Waterproof ponchos and a clean wind flap would have helped. Besides getting very wet, it was fabulous!
Extraordinarily friendly and helpful staff, starting with the warm greeting by the general manager on our arrival, and frequent (but unobtrusive) follow up by the Day Manager. Beautiful room, terrific food & wine. As clear a view of the night sky as I’ve ever seen.

United KingdomThe food could be worked on a little, especially the vegetarian dishes. It felt a little like mass catering at dinner. Breakfast however is great!
One of the most impressive places I have ever stayed at. The view is incredible, the rooms are all outstanding and the staff go above and beyond! The game drive was a highlight of our stay, the knowledge and delivery from Sia our driver was incredible!!

GermanyThe view of the dinner was amazing, the menu could be optimized.
The view from the mountains is amazing. There is a nice pool and relaxing area. We had a dinner also with this view. The rooms are pretty, all made us to feel good!! We had a small Kia Picanto rental car, very small one. Luckily it was not rainy season, so it was no problem to go up with this car, we had to drive slow and carefully and all was fine!!! The hotel is not far from Addo National Park, so before heading there we made a 2 hour driving from the northern entrance of the park and we saw many elephants and other animals.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed in. The views are breathtaking. The rooms are stunning and equipped with everything you need. They’re an eco resort on top of a mountain so it’s impressive how comfortable you feel. We were very well looked after, the staff were lovely, super helpful and nice to chat to. Thank you Simba and team. The activities we did and booked through them were all great, we saw many more animals than we imagined we would. Would love to come back!

United KingdomObviously the location is unparalleled and the lodge and rooms are lovely but compared to other places we stayed during our visit, this was by a long way the most expensive and yet not the most memorable.

NetherlandsRooms not fully equipped (see above).
Camp Fig Tree is a guesthouse 12 km (via a gravel road) from Addo Elephant National Park. It is beautifully located in lush greenery on the Zuurberg mountain and offers stunning views. Suites are very spacious and tastefully decorated, but not fully equipped. As there is only solar-powered electricity, there is no fridge in the room and you cannot make tea/coffee in the room (you can order it, although this might take some time); there is no airco either. As there are no insect screens on the windows, one has to keep these closed. Wifi is not available in the rooms, only in the restaurant, and is slowish. An advantage is that there are no problems with ‘load shedding ‘. The beds are large and comfortable, and have mosquito nets. Breakfast is very good, as is the capuchino. Staff is very friendly and helpful, although they can be slow, as is not unexpected in South-Africa. You cannot park your car next to your apartment, but staff will assist you with your luggage. The area is locked with an automatic gate. You can book a game drive via Camp Fig Tree, which is very well organized (They even provide binoculars). In sum, this is not cheap, but the location is beautiful and the food is great. The absence of airco might be a problem with higher temperatures, though.

Singaporei didnt like that our stay there was too short. I will definitely stay there longer! 4 full days at least!
the view was amazing, the staff were friendly and nice, and even waited for us even though we checked in late. The food was mind blowing although it did that a while for the mains to arrive, and as a sign that we will return, our bottle of wine is still left with the waitress.
