Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThere are actually some things that could be improved. An easy one would be to replace the carpet on the stairs of the main building. It is in horrible condition, and looks like an old dirty pub carpet - filthy, with a lot of big stains. Although it may be waiting to be replaced as part of a larger renovation project, this is very urgent, as it lets down the entire look of the premises, and it would cost very little to even fit a temporary carpet on just the stairs and the landing. Unfortunately, the restaurant food that we ate was very substandard. Four of us had different meals on the first night, and none was good at all. On the second night, we tried different meals from the limited selection, and we could only say that they food was passable. It was noticeable that the restaurant was very empty compared with 2 years ago when it was completely booked out - and that was on the cusp of the Covid crisis. The management really needs to look seriously at the quality of the food that is being produced. We stayed at many very nice hotels during our one-month tour of South Africa, and unfortunately, this restaurant was amongst the worst. It is too bad, as we love this hotel, and we really love dining in this restaurant with its lovely views, and not having to leave the premises to dine, so I hope that this suggestion is well-taken.
The location is beyond compare. Located within Camps Bay, but in a secluded and incredibly beautiful private area. Since the last time that we stayed, the staff seem to have a much more positive and welcoming attitude. The person who cleaned our room was very efficient and helpful. Also, the fact that the restaurant is now run by the hotel and not a concession makes it much easier to make dinner bookings.

United StatesHousekeeping wouldn’t clean our rooms until we called them. We were staying in the three bedroom family villa and we would come home to a mess which was very disappointing. When we spoke with management the first day we were told that the do not disturb sign was on (it had flipped over due to the wind) and the second day when it wasn’t done we were told we have to specially ask them to come early (it was 4pm). That too she came and did hardly anything only made the beds. The AC unit broke down and we had people in and out of the villa all afternoon, they couldn’t fix it so they offered us a fan - it was the middle of summer so how could we all sit in the lounge and enjoy as a family with a fan! The day was ruined, and when asked for compensation they said they had given some of us a complimentary snack at the restaurant and that should suffice for the whole day of men in and out.
The property is beautiful and very unique for the area. It’s lovely to walk around and the bridge was fun for the kids. Breakfast is lovely and they have a wonderful complimentary tea time where they offer scones with delicious cream and jam.

United KingdomThe on duty evening manager when we arrived was cold and off-hand, describing their plans to address load-shedding next year for our part of the resort as some kind of benefit to us. His manner didn’t improve at all during our stay including at check out when he would look straight at me. Without this we would have rated the hotel higher. Everyone else at the resort was lovely. Load- shedding a minor issue but the timings didn’t impact us hugely.
Great location and views. We had a room with outside space which wasn’t entirely private and a wood burning hot tub. Security, waiting and household staff were great and we made friends with the hotel’s dog. Good range of well priced drinks and food options including non-meat dishes which was really appreciated. We really liked the rope bridge connecting our party of the resort from the main house.

South Africathere is only a generator in the main building, with current load shedding issues in South Africa (lack of electricity) when you have to walk across a wooden bridge and wooden stairs at night without light it’s very uncomfortable and honestly a bit scary. use of a small battery lamp not good enough for what we pay. the small details of maintenance not seen to , shower leaks and when I got out shower slipped and nearly hit my head , polishing of brass - the small details make a difference. also visible service would be appreciated often waited long periods while all staff in kitchen to order something.
the location , the space and all the cool facilities with good vegan food options
