Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

South AfricaNo bedside lights to read by. Plugs not convenient for boiling kettle. Top of door needs a blind so passage light doesn't shine into room at night. Unacceptable to only have instant coffee available for breakfast. A four star establishment needs to provide proper coffee!
Location was good, close enough to walk to some buildings and sites of interest as well as good restaurants in the vicinity. Cooked breakfast was excellent.

Location was good! Right in the CBD and walking distance to everything but tucked away to avoid noise. Staff extremely helpful despite last minute late booking. Fantastic old building being carefully restored with big comfortable bed and large shower room. Tea and coffee facilities in room.

South AfricaThe hotel which was opened last year has almost the identical name to the long established Cape Heritage Hotel (a few hundred meters away). I booked this hotel in error. The rooms were big enough with a nice bathroom but many other things let it down - very poor internet, impractical furniture, sheets were not fresh, low grade coffee, a fly infestation and other insects and vermin. The street parking is not good and my hubcaps were stolen on the first night. It is also noisy.

South AfricaThe room had a horrible paint smell due to reservations. Wasn't able to use the aircon, had to sleep with my windows open hearing all the noises from outside. They lit up incense to hide the smell but didn't take it away, Im still stuck with that horrific smell thinking about last night. They also didn't want me to cancel the booking 30min after I had checked in. And finally the description said hotel and spa, they didn't have a spa facility. I'm not very happy with the false advertising and the bad experience, how am I not allowed to use an aircon in a room I paid for? Why do I need to have incense lit to mask the smell of paint. Sleeping with the windows open attracted bugs, mosquitoes kept me up and woke up with a cockroach in my room. This was the most horrible experience in my life.
The bed was comfortable.

South AfricaNot the best stay for me. I had paid for two nights for a particular room but was allocated an inferior one due to it having plumbing issues. My bedroom was much inferior and I didn’t enjoy my stay. I was woken several times due to the room being too close to the reception area. I also suggest that the hotel consider giving entrance keys or a tag to enter, to guests- I had to wait for an hour in the early morning when the front door was locked and due to loadshedding the main bell didn’t work so night staff couldn’t hear me! The staff weren’t the best although Nauboobiyah was very helpful.

South AfricaOn the day I arrived my rooms bed and bathroom were dirty. No manager on site to handle problems. The power points at the desk in my room did not work, so I would not work at the desk. The room felt unsafe at night. A bright light was installed outside my room and the staff member told me that it could not be turned off, this made it hard to sleep at night.

United States"Spa" is in the name of the Hotel, but the spa (and restaurant) have not been constructed yet. 'spa' carries expectations, and those were not met. Otherwise, it's a lovely little hotel with the friendliest staff.
Very well located, within Bo Kaap and generally safe within that neighborhood. Antique fittings and decor; the hotel smells of rich wood and warmth. Street parking is risky, but the (small) hotel has parking for 1 vehicle.

I intended to stay in a four star environment, however i had to reevaluate all of that and settle. They almost ruined my entire holiday...
