Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

MalawiThere was an an old lady who made me feel like I shouldn't be there, even followed me upstairs and told me that I should not be there and went away without even explaining any reason why. She was so mean and intimidating.... I did not like it at all... I think a guest who pays for accommodation has got the right to be treated with respect and dignity and this old lady should be away from this fantastic place.....
The hotel man, slander and tall was very nice. From the time he welcomed me at the reception to the time I left... Great human being.

The supper was not so good on the 7th October, the Eisbein was very hard and salty. The pork neck was too salty, sliced sausages (forgot what the name of the dish was) were too salty. The seafood that the rest of the family ordered on the night of the 8th was very tasty, the prawns and hake dishes. On the 8th I ordered the pork chops, they were tasty but I didn’t like that they were covered like a chicken snitchzel , maybe give guests options on how they like the pork chops served? When covered like that, one can’t really cut out the fatty part that I always leave out because it’s covered and one ends up chewing the fat unintentionally. Overall the stay was nice, the chef is the one who needs to improve a bit. Everything else was satisfactory for us. Thank you

I liked the fact that there was a backup generator for power-outs.

South AfricaSomeone had been in our room for a viewing and helped themselves to the chocolate and a bottle of water. I did advise the manager and also said no need to replenish. This needs to be watched when clients view rooms.
The breakfast was huge and I was unable to finish it. I think the steak is not required as it was tough and a bit much.
