How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Only coffee and rusks supplied we didn’t expect a breakfast, flat very spacious and comfortable, perhaps shower head a bit calcified needs clearing, but very satisfied with accommodation

He had all utensils and crockeries but there was nothing there to cook. No stove or induction , so basically all stuffs werr just a formality and he really doesn't want anyone to cook there . There was no AC and during afternoon in summer it gets hot and we felt that but it was alright in the night n morning. There were too many windows and i am light sensitive so it was tough to sleep after sunrise , so darker drapes would have been nicer . I still am going to give 9 because the way the place was maintained and the behaviour of the Reuben was exceptional ... It was a good place for the layover n I'm thankful for him to provide that .
Really nicely done by owner Reuben and he was very considerate and was messaging us about how to get around .place was safe and secure and were not disturbed even once .i am scared of dogs and he kept his cute dog in house so that i don't get scared . Clean washroom and spacious place . Very nice decor and comfy beds(separated though n we had to join them ) . Good tea n coffee collection and nice washroom .

Central location near the airport. Good and quiet neighborhood. Room was clean and tidy. The owner is nice and drove us from the airport. Highly recommend.

I liked the warm welcome. The host was warm and courteous. I felt that the host respected the guest's privacy and space. The information about accessing transport and dining places was very important. I liked the peace and quiet of Catch your Breath. It felt like home. I would not hesitate to book there again in future Thank you Reuben and family.

There was nothing to dislike. All was in order
The reception was great by the owner. Showed us to the room which was spacious. Gave us all the required details and showed us where we could go for a great dinner. Room was comfortable and clean. Would recommend this place to all.

A little more room heating would have been awesome, there is a wall heater, but perhaps a fan heater too as it was exceptionally cold in Jhb, however the warm beds were a wonderful bonus.
It was great thank you. Joburg was freezing cold during our stay, so to climb into bed with electric blankets was a winner. There were great fleece blankets in the cupboard which came in perfect use. Tiles in kitchenette and bathroom were a bit cold so we pulled the carpet mat over them, it was great to have that option. Perfect hosts!

Great location - 10 min drive to the airport Clean and spacious accommodation that is separate to the main house Friendly and helpful host - helped me out when I couldn't order a takeaway on Uber Eats Great price Great choice of TV channels Pick up from the airport and very early morning drop off for a decent additional cost I was staying overnight, having flown in from Victoria Falls that afternoon and then flying back home to London the next morning. Was perfect for what I needed.
